Feast of the Guardian Angels Oct 2nd!
Perhaps no aspect of Catholic piety is as comforting to parents as the belief that an angel protects their little ones from dangers real and imagined. Yet guardian angels are not just for children. The concept of an angel assigned to guide and nurture each human being is a development of Catholic doctrine and piety based on Scripture but not directly drawn from it. Jesus’ words ... read more

Re: Feast day: Our Lady of Sorrows 15 y
Its only God, which is worshipped. Honouring the Beautiful Blessed Virgin Mary, does not distract from honouring her beloved son Jesus. All the Saints have honoured her and are Saints in heaven. Follow them my child and reap great benefits. Roman Catholics and all faithful christians honour her, not worship. Worship is for God only.
God Bless

Yes Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. But what I posted was about his Mother, the Blessed Virgin.
Tell me Beej. Who would allow a person into their own home if they do not respect their mother? Anyone.
Because I tell you now, if you dishonour his mother you dishonour him.

Feast: Most Holy Name of the Blessed Virgin Mary
15 y
This feast is a counterpart to the Feast of the Holy Name of Jesus (January 3); both have the possibility of uniting people easily divided on other matters.
Comment:
Mary always points us to God, reminding us of God’s infinite goodness. She helps us to open our hearts to God’s ways, wherever those may lead us. Honored under the title “Queen of Peace,” Mary encourages us to cooperate with Jesus in building a peace based on justice, a peace that respects the fundamental human rights (including religious rights) of all peoples.

John the Baptist was the son of Zachary, a priest of the Temple in Jerusalem, and Elizabeth, a kinswoman of Mary who visited her. He was probably born at Ain-Karim southwest of Jerusalem after the Angel Gabriel had told Zachary that his wife would bear a child even though she was an old woman. He lived as a hermit in the desert of Judea until about A.D. 27. When he was thirty, he began to preach on the banks of the Jordan against the evils of the times and call ... read more

St. Bartholomew, 1st. century, one of the 12.
All that is known of him with certainty is that he is mentioned in the synoptic gospels and Acts as one of the twelve apostles. His name, a patronymic, means "son of Tolomai" and scholars believe he is the same as Nathanael mentioned in John, who says he is from Cana and that Jesus called him an "Israelite...incapable of deceit." The Roman Martyrology says he preached in India and Greater Armenia, where he was flayed and behea ... read more
