Re: Pregnancy and fasting
by fizzz 13 y
Personally I would do juice fasting during pregnancy just for a few days only, because the fetus probably needs a lot of nutrients. Water fasting is really hard on the body, you don’t want to hurt a developing fetus.
But if you google ”fasting pregnancy” you will get a lot of articles that will answer your question.

Re: Hyperthyroidism during Pregnancy
by Brandy Chelt 10 y
Hyperthyroidism can be managed in pregnancy.
An understanding of pregnancy-related variations in thyroid function tests is important in making the diagnosis of hyperthyroidism in pregnancy.
Once the diagnosis of hyperthyroidism is made in a pregnant woman, attention should be focused on determining the etiology of the disorder and whether it warrants treatment. Clinical features that may indicate the presence of significant hyperthyroidism include failure to gain weight, heat intolerance, excessive sweating, and tachycardia, beyond that normally associated with pregnancy.

Re: semen allergy

Here’s another thing that hasn’t been mentioned yet. In some women senses become extremely acute during pregnancy. The smell of bacon, or putting mayonnaise on my husband’s sandwiches made me throw up during my first pregnancy. In other pregnancies (I had four) there were things I didn’t dare eat. This isn’t to say that the other things suggested to you before are wrong, but just maybe you weren’t as sensitive to the smell of your husband’s semen before the pregnancy as you are now.

Can anyone tell me whether there is any evidence supporting the safety of M*******h’s glyconutritional supplements, which include other ingregients, during pregnancy? Manna-C states not to use it during pregnancy and Catalyst says not to use for young children. Other brands of shark cartiledge (which I believe is in A*******e and therefore most M*******h products) say not to use during pregnancy as a caution.

Lost pregnancy due to Arnold Chiari malformation

Hello,
I’ve just lost a 20 weeks pregnancy due to the diagnosis of Arnold Chiari malformation and spina bifida lombara. I’ve tried to find out more details about Arnold Chiari syndrome on the net but I did not found too many. I’m interested if anyone knows if this can be tested earlier during the pregnancy and what causes this syndrome, how can I found out, now that I lost the pregnancy what was the cause and what medical checks should I do for a future pregnancy.
Thank you very much for your support.

I am currently pregnant and take one or two drops of lugol’s 5% on most days. I also rinse my mouth with lugols in water and also use it as a scalp rinse prior to washing my hair as it prevents dandruff. I did high dose iodine prior to pregnancy.
The best info I could find indicated 12.5 mg to be considered safe during pregnancy as long as higher doses were taken prior to pregnancy as you really don’t want to start stirring up bromine etc during pregnancy.

What are the Benefits of Using a Pregnancy Pillow?

Getting a good night rest is something that usually proves an herculean task for expectant mothers. The changes on their bodies make a good sleep very elusive. At times, it goes to the extent that the expectant mothers suffer from back pain and leg cramps which make it extremely difficult to find a comfortable sleeping position. These ultimately compound to the other problems of expectant mothers such as anxieties over the pregnancy. The good news though is that these sleeping problems can be solved by simply using a pregnancy pillow. What are pregnancy pillows?Pregnancy pillows a ...

Hi,
I have had adrenal issues with 2 pregnancies. The first pregnancy went fine. There were issues but nothing really severe compared to what I go through now, although it felt bad at the time. The second pregnancy was a year or so ago and I lost the baby. My adrenals were too weak and I developed hypothyroidism.
I think the only difference in both cases was the hypothyroidism. The first pregnancy I got to month 4 and started feeling much better than I did before the pregnancy, I wasn’t as sensitive to foods and could eat fruits and things I couldn’t tolerate before the pregnancy. A l ...

As a woman and marijuana grower, I’m a victim of several forms of prohibition and oppression.
First of all, until I’m age 18, my body is considered to be like marijuana—a controlled substance.
Before I was 18, if I was involved with a guy sexually, that guy was guilty of a crime.
For him, touching my body was a crime, just like marijuana.

Candida and Pregnancy
by Dr.Jeff 6 y
Candida and Pregnancy have an intertwined relationship, as is typical of every aspect of the body. Their connection is easily seen via the impact of candida on the body’s bacterial flora and the impact of the bacterial flora on pregnancy. We have seen over 56 women, who were previously diagnosed as infertile, become pregnant while doing the Plan. We’ve learned first-hand how restoring balance to the bacterial flora of the body can have a major impact on pregnancy and beyond.

I’ve not posted on this forum before, but I too have had a variety of adverse effects that I believe are caused by mirena. Your recent post intrigued me, because your symptoms sound similar to a condition from which a friend of mine suffers, known as POTS. This can occur as a result of pregnancy or as a reaction to a bad drug (hers was brought on by adverse reaction to Yaz) and causes extreme blood pressure swings, dizziness or fainting, heart rate variations particularly when they are not appropriate, and can occur with adrenal symptoms. I have a few of those little red spots too... cherry angiomas. they should be pinkish red, flat, small, and like they said, harmless.
As far as the pregnancy and digestive issues go, pregnancies can cause stasis of bile in the liver, and also bring on gallbladder and digestive issues. The Progesterone (hormone) can really impact your digestion and even your liver.
Did you have any itching, per chance? If you did, either during or after your pregnancy, you might want to look into a condition called Intrahepatic Cholestasis of Pregnancy. (Itchymoms.com)

Re: Post pregnancy hemorrhoids
by jimmy 20 y
Pregnancy hemorrhoids can be caused by hormonal changes to the digestive system. The increased blood flow in the area around the uterus and the pelvis because of the weight of the uterus, can cause a blockage of circulation.
Hemorrhoids or Piles can worsen towards the end of pregnancy. They may also get worse with each pregnancy you have. However they SHOULD ease away after delivery of your child. Check out the site below for more info.

I can’t answer your question about doing liver flushes while nursing as I have no experience there. I can tell you that cleansing before getting pregnant again would be a very good idea. My understanding from an herbalist that I took classes from over 20 years ago, is that morning sickness is due to toxins in the woman’s body. If cleansing is done before pregnancy, the same woman that had rough past pregnancies will often sail through the next pregnancy without any morning sickness or other issues. The first trimester of your pregnancy can ring several different symptoms. There is a possibility that you could get a few different types of symptoms amongst which lower abdominal pain is one. I tested positive with a home pregnancy test yesterday, and am seeing my doctor this afternoon. I’ve had Mirena since February 2008, six weeks after the birth of my daughter.
I understand there is a high risk for ectopic pregnancy, and for complications if the Mirena remains in the uterus with the developing baby.
I’m hoping that the original poster may respond with a happy ending to her story, or anyone else that has experienced a pregnancy with the Mirena.

I also did research last night and in ayurvedic (sp) medicine they use it to treat weakness in pregnancy so it is used in pregnancy. I believe the concern comes from the fact that it causes the uterus to spasm or contract so it would be contraindicated in high risk pregnancy with bleeding and early contractions.
I believe Uny is still looking into it though for you and I trust Uny’s guidance, she is really knowledgeable and doesn’t take chances.

Hi
My view would be that your body is giving priority to producing breast milk, and so your hair gets ’fed’ last (and rightfully so).
Could be a hormonal element too, as your body changes from being pregnancy to recovery/nursing, but I’m not that familiar with this aspect.
Anyway what I wanted to say, was that you may be better off looking in a pregnancy forum of Curezone, or other pregnancy related internet forums, for more answers about good nutrition for this.

Dear 59245,
Your question of how to reduce the Demand or desire for Abortions is pertinent.
The reducing of Demand can be approached from a personal level, community and global level.
Demand for Abortions can be reduced by the increase of availability of Family Planning supplies, such as contraceptives and contraceptive jellies. Some family planning strategies involve Medical Professionals, such as inserting an IUD. So increasing the availability of Medical procedures to assist in family planning, would reduce the number of unplanned pregnancies. Abstinence practices could be f ...
