You will likely adjust to the stinging over time.
You can allow the magnesium oil absorb into the skin, and then wipe the area with a damp washcloth.
Or you can dilute the magnesium oil with water, or make a lotion. I enjoy a homemade lotion using equal parts magnesium oil, coconut oil, and aloe vera gel. You can try a 50-50 mix of magnesium oil and almond oil, or whatever works best for you.
Magnesium expert Dr. Mark Sircus finds the itching is caused partly by impurities and contaminants in the oil. He recommends using ancient minerals seabed-source magnesium oil (most pure and ...

Hi,
I am interested in purchasing some Magnesium Oil. I found Ancient Minerals Ultra Pure Magnesium Oil 64oz for around $122. I also found a gallon of Magnesium Oil for $55 plus ship/hand online. I’ve read that Ancient Minerals Ultra Pure Magnesium Oil is really good. Does anyone who uses Magnesium Oil for Magnesium definciency know where’s a good place to buy it? I’m relatively new to Magnesium therapy. Also is anyone using Magnesium Oil and oral Magnesium Chloride tablets/liquid together? Dr. Brownstein recommends:
400 mg Magnesium - PM best=glycinate, citrate or malate others are poorly absorbed - more may be needed - See this link - (Calcium will purge magnesium)
You might be taking the wrong kind of magnesium, or you may be taking too much.
Try a different form of magnesium, your body may not respond to the form you are taking.
Also try magnesium oil topically:

Re: Buying Magnesium Oil

Magnesium oil typically is sprayed or rubbed directly on skin. Using 1 ounce or more daily offers the most effective approach because it permits full concentration of magnesium oil to penetrate skin and build tissue magnesium levels. However, direct application sometimes causes stinging or burning sensations. The body usually adapts quickly to these sensations (so they do not feel so intense), especially if the product is a high-purity one like Ancient Minerals magnesium oil derived from undergound seabeds (rather than ocean water-derived magnesium oil). If you are using topical magnesium oil and taking 400mg magnesium per day, the only thing I can assume is that you are working out too hard or the 400mg magnesium you're taking isn't well absorbed (though a blend of citrate/glycinate/malate should be pretty good). When I had the worst eyelid twitching of my life, I was taking 400-800mg Magnesium Glycinate per day. Have you tried magnesium oil instead of oral supplements. I rub the magnesium oil directly on the bits that hurt, and the effect is fantastic, no more muscle soreness or stiffness. My skin absorbs the magnesium directly to the place where its needed without having to go through the stomach and bowel (which I have great trouble with). I have also tried Amino Acid Chelated Magnesium, and this has a lot less effect on my stomach, and doesn’t give me the trots. (sorry TMI).

For arthritis pain or bruising, magnesium oil is applied transdermally, which means rubbing it directly onto the skin where the affliction is located. Magnesium oil generally is moisturizing because it is hygroscopic (moisture-absorbing). In a humid environment, it will especially draw moisture to skin. However, in dry environments it is less moisturizing. Furthermore, after it dries completely, minerals remain on the surface of the skin, and you may feel this residue as a dry, powdery, and even granular sensation. It is best to shower (or wipe off the residue using a wet washcloth) at least every few days because this mineral residue can gradually build up (layer upon layer), and thereby somewhat lessen your skin’s absorption of fresh a ...

The magnesium malate that I have used in the past had no fillers or binders. It was just magnesium malate and a bit of malic acid.
What worked best for me at that time was additional magnesium oil used transdermally. I still use it if I feel nervous or edgy because it seems to have a wonderfully calming affect on my body. I would use it more often if I could tolerate the
sticky feel. It takes only 20 minutes to be fully absorbed, so when I use it, I wait for that time to pass and then shower the residue off.
