I think water fasting is more dangerous than dry fasting which is why I wouldn’t recommend ending a dry fast with a water fast or even doing a water fast at all. (as water fasting causes you to loose more electolytes than with dry fasting)
I also see no point from a healing perspective to water fasting, dry fasting heals on a much deeper level so why bother with water fasting at all.

your energy level and weightloss, depends on if your juice fasting ,water fasting, or like me I am protien drink fasting, if your water fasting you will most likely have very little energy, and water fasting gives you the fastest weightloss, juice fasting you will most likely lose 1-2 pounds a day, and with any fast you will feel tired ,weakness the first 3 days atleast then off and on through the fast you will have times of energy and times of tiredness and weakness , and many people have headaches and some body aches off and on.I choose the protien drink to fast on because it gives me mo ...

When I get sick I naturally fast, I don’t want to eat. Last March I was reading the bible, and ever time I read about someone fasting I felt a need for me to do the same. I started fasting, first I would just fast for a 24 hour period basically skipping 2 meals these were dry fasts. I was scared that I would hurt myself if I fasted any longer.
Then I started reading up on fasting, and after studying I started water fasts back in June of 04. I have completed many 1, 2 and 3 day water fasts and one 4 day fast. I now feel ready to do a long fast. I know what I feel like when I fast. ...

I have to disagree with you. On April 18th I’ve completed my first 40-day Combined Fast. The first 9.5 days were on a dry fast and the rest on water fast. While on Dry Fast for 9.5 days, I did not drink anything, did not brush my teeth, did not take showers or wash my face. If I had to wash dishes I would wear rubber gloves. The only thing I’d allow myself is to wash my hands after the restroom. This was not my first dry fast previously I dry fasted for 36 hours, 72 hours, and 5 days. Currently I am dry fasting for 18 hours daily to prepare for 11 day dry fast which I will be starti ...

Breaking a (dry) fast in an unusual fashion

Hello all,
being aware on how fasts are normally supposed to be broken, I chanced upon an article which gives the following instructions for breaking a dry fast:
The first two days after the Dry Fast must include drinking of pure water, EATING MAINLY FRESH PROEIN-RICH FOODS OF ANIMAL ORIGIN: fatty yogurt, cottage cheese, sour cream, cheese, fish and chicken broth, boiled fish, chicken, eggs, etc.

Re: Does fasting stress the liver?
by mouseclick 16 y
Hi Chris,
Does fasting stress the liver and does normal refeeding help it recover?
I ask because it says at the top of this Curezone board:
Fasting may promote formation of intrahepatic stones and gallstones.
Flush your liver before and after every fast, to prevent formation of large stones.
It doesn’t say what type of fast though. Maybe it refers to juice fasts? I know juice fasts are not really fasts, but everyone seems to call them fasts.

Although it always helps to have a colon, liver and kidney cleanse, a fast can be done prior to those cleanses. Also, if this is your first time, then you may want to try a juice fast - much easier if you are already juicing.
You can find a nice introductory guide to fasting and the juice fast at the following site. It gives simple guidance to beginners on fasting and juice fasts.

Sometimes a dry fast is indicated, but it should never be done without supervision. Doing a dry fast without supervision would be as foolish as removing your own appendix. There are plenty of ways to fast on your own, but, dry fasts and prolonged water only fasts have too many potential dangers to ever do as a ”do it yourself” project. One to three day water fasts or a juice fast is much safer, especially for those new to fasting.

As far as I know, it takes 21 days of fasting to heal ulcer. Three years ago I did 23 days of water fast and during the fast I felt wonderful, but then, breaking the fast, I made a mistake and ate food I wasn’t supposed to eat so soon, and then I had problems. The fast is OK, the longer - the better, just make sure you break the fast well. Usually, breaking of the fast lasts as long as the fast itself.

4. how many days would be a good idea to do a cleanse?
Please read more on it before doing anything. Try ”The Miracle of Fasting” by Bragg or ”Book I” by MH (Barefoot) which is free.
The short answer to your question is either a 3-day juice fast or a 1 day water fast. Bragg advises doing 2-3 1-day water fasts (spread 1 week apart) and then several 3-day water fasts 3 weeks apart, and then 7-10 day water fasts (with at least as many days between fasts as the previous fasting time).

I think you’re getting too scared off because of a fair warning. High on Water has admitted she went past the point where she was actually given a sign to end the fast. So I would suggest she is warning us not to ignore the signs, rather than to avoid the fast altogether which she still says is a great thing. Longer fasts are very beneficial, no matter that some books and fasting doctors say they aren’t. The greatest achievements I’ve read about through fasting have all come from extended- if not completed- fasts.

I have fasted by way of the Master Cleanse, (the longest one was 21 days) Juice Fasting, and water fasting. Of course the MC and juicing are not fasts, they are a restricted way of eating. I prefer water fasting. 10 days of water fasting is equivalent to 30 days of juice fasting. I want to tell you I do not have a weight problem; I have a health problem. This is why I fast.

It is very important not to fast beyond your capacity. One cannot simply rely on how much body fat a person has to decide how long to fast that person. Even obese individuals can develop signs of starvation while still overweight if their muscle reserves fall to dangerously low levels while their fat reserves are still adequate. This would occur only when the fast was excessively prolonged, and has been reported in such patients who have fasted for many months. Cardiac failure could occur in patients who no longer have skeletal muscle reserve and who continue to fast. For this reason, I do ...

Why do you want to do another fast so soon?
What benefits were you expecting but did not receive?
Eating well is just as important as fasting. Your body still heals and cleanses itself in a fed state, so don’t feel that you must go without food in order to improve your health.
You ended your fast three months ago or so. Unless you are treating a specific life threatening condition, it is probably better to improve your health with diet, juices etc before undertaking another fast.

”Q. What is the difference between water fasting and juice fasting?
A. During a water fast, only water is consumed. During a juice fast, any variety of fruit and vegetable juices are consumed.
People detoxify and heal more quickly with a water fast than with a juice fast. This is because with a water fast, your digestive passageway and organs are able to rest completely, allowing for all of your energy to be used for cleansing and repair of damaged tissues. You shouldnt gain weight in one binge. Well, technically u will, but if u don’t weigh in and continue on ur fast tomorrow, ur weight will remain the same as it was this morning. So, pretty much a binge day with fasting afterwards just stalls ur weight for that binge day.
Just pick up where u left off and after 2 days of fasting ull be right where u left off, weight-wise.
I’ve always ended up breaking my fasts and noticed that if I dont weigh myself (Ill end up gettin too depressed) and then continue on my fast, my weight will have appeared to just have stalled.

Victoria,
The proper way to break a fast depends on if you are juice fasting or water fasting. Either way, your diet should consist mainly of raw fruits and veggies for at least 4 days after your fast is over. If you are breaking a water fast, you should use 3-6 cups of fresh live fruit and veggie juice per day for about two days and then break with raw fruits and veggies and more fresh juice. Be careful not to eat too much, you’re stomach will be a lot smaller--and DO NOT break your fast with dairy products. Check out more information on the juice fasting support forum in curezone. I don’t have the book here right now, but I think Paul Bragg suggested a large raw salad to break a fast to sweep clean the colon. Of course Bragg does not believe in doing anything to stimulate the bowels while fasting, he preferred to wait and allow nature to take its course. One big factor is how clean and used to fasting a person was when beginning the fast. Both Bragg and Ahert claim that a highly toxic person could die from the released toxins of a prolonged fast. I believe that a good colon and liver cleanse should be done before beginning to fast, and its generally best to start sl ...

You mentioned more cleanse style fast, however what your definition of cleanse style fast is not at all cleansing fast. It is called partial eating and that will damage you more than you can think of. Whereas fasting with just water will cleanse your body and mind. You will not damage your body this way, even if you did a long fast. Fasting can only hurt you when it is not done properly and when you do not brake your fast when true hunger returns.

I’ve been doing some research on this, and it seems as if dry fasting is the real deal. It seems to be much more natural than water fasting, and is what animals actually do in the wild. It seems as if water fasting is to dry fasting as juice fasting is to water fasting.
It’s supposed to be a much more efficient/stronger detox. Apparently one day of dry fasting is equal to 3 days of water fasting. This means that dry fasting for a few days only can accomplish what a 10 day water fast would.
