Depression is a mental state which can have negative impact on both the partners in a marriage. In India, many people are diagnosed with depression each year. Surprisingly, number of women is more than men when it comes to diagnosis of depression. Dealing with depression becomes extremely difficult, when one is married. Not only does it affect the person but also other family members.
People suffering from depression often feel isolated and have difficulty approaching for help. Being in a marriage where one partner suffers from depression can be somewhat confusing for the other. The non ...

Depression is a symptom
by Trick X Master 14 y
The logic behind ”depression” being a verifiable source of symptoms of adrenal fatigue is completely illogical. For example, if depression is the cause of heart rate changes, heart palpitations, low temperature, low energy, brain fog, then it is pure logic to assume that depression is PHYSICAL.
Now, that we have come to the assertion that depression is physical, it means that there are physical changes in the body associated with depression. This is where it gets illogical. Since changes in mood are connected with depression, the changes in mood are synonymous with depression all of ...

Depression rates are rising at an alarming rate with each generation having higher rates of it. Dr. Stephen Ilardi says that depression is a disease of civilization. So to avoid depression, you should become uncivilized-- just kidding (kind of).
Learn about the many physical causes of depression and how to correct them. Dr. Ilardi says ”exercise is medication.” Then also learn about non-physical causes of depression and how depression may actually help you. See

Yes I’ve got ”clinical depression” and ”recurrent major depressive disorder”.
”Clinical depression” is quite a wooly term but seems just to mean depression that needs to be treated by a doctor (clinician) with medication, therapy etc.
It means you DON’T just have ”feeling a bit low” type depression that everyone gets from time to time. And it is also distinct from a type of depression called Dysphoria which is low-level long-term mild depression. The best remedy is Theramood products.

I genuinely hope that the people reading this forum can benefit from my research and work with depression.
Depression is linked to a hormone called PGE2 (an eicosanoid).
This same hormone is linked to many western diseases like heart disease, strokes and cancer.
In my free ebook From depression to glorious health I describe diet and lifestyle approaches that can help reduce the levels of PGE2 and result in the reversal of depression.
I am well aware of the terrible affliction depression can become and I wish you all best wishes and hope I can offer you a little hope for the future.

A new study from the Research Institute on Addictions links cannabis to lowering the symptoms of depression. The study proved positive when treating chronic stress in rats, although due to the complex nature of treating depression, further research is necessary.
It’s becoming common knowledge that cannabis may help people find relief from the symptoms of depression, but until recently, there was no scientific evidence to back this claim. Other research has found that cannabis can be effective in treating a variety of ...

Depression can break the heart
By Marilyn Elias, USA TODAY
Depression almost doubles the risk of developing heart disease over 12 years, according to a long-term study of twins. The findings are to be reported today at the American Psychosomatic Society meeting in Chicago.
Mounting evidence has found that depression makes people more vulnerable to heart trouble. Recent studies, though, find that some genes that increase the risk of heart disease also may make people more prone to depression, which has raised the question of whether the depression-heart disease link is genetic.

Great article here on depression causes...
Like most chronic conditions and their symptoms, there is not one single cause for depression. Rather, there are several different factors which can contribute to and cause depression. When depression is not a by-product of external events, it is called endogenous, meaning “originating from within.” This kind of depression is believed to be fundamentally due to biochemical abnormalities,3 specifically an altered balance of the neurotransmitters serotonin, norepinephrine, and dopamine. This imbalance may occur in a number of different ways.

Her is a definition:
Depression, in psychiatry, is a symptom of mood disorder characterized by intense feelings of loss, sadness, hopelessness, failure, and rejection. The two major types of mood disorder are unipolar disorder, also called major depression, and bipolar disorder, whose sufferers are termed manic-depressive (see bipolar disorder). Other types of depression are recognized, with characteristics similar to the major mood disorders, but not as severe: they are adjustment disorder with depression, dysthymic disorder, and cyclothymic disorder.

cholesterol, statins, and depression
by Michael Barbee 20 y
I hope that those who are experiencing depression will question the use of statins to control cholesterol levels. Cholesterol is essential for brain health. Blood levels of cholesterol below 180 result in a higher incidence of depression (and suicide). Many people who artificially lower their cholesterol levels with statin drugs report depression, memory loss, and other cognitive impairment. Whether statins are used or not, levels of cholesterol below 180 should be considered a suspect in cases of depression. http://www.foodintegrity.com

I think most people have ”personality disorders,” if we’re counting anxiety and depression. The line between clinical and normal depression is pretty arbitrary (whether it impacts your life negatively in the long run is subjective), and anti-depressants like Prozac are clearly overprescribed. But there is a ”classic” case in which SSRI’s worked, which I linked on the wiki under Success Stories.
It could be like the ”chicken and the egg,” similar to this Leeds Uni study that linked depression to obsessive Internet use and addiction.
