Re: You just love to differ
no, i truly believe there is a difference between the truth and some of the things you have said.
i grew up in the churchen way from a child and learned exactly the path they taught. all the same kind of hand-wringing over being human and assuaging guilt and avoiding consequences. this leads to living in some kind of fantasy whereby the character of the people never change, the kinds of things they do on a daily basis all gets swept "under the blood of the lamb". yet, these people believe they will never deny christ. they will march to a gallows or firing squad or guillotine and stand tall in the faith.
i guarantee you, if a person cant leave worldly things behind and and do the little things that jesus said to do on a daily basis, there is no way they will shed their skin for him.
you see, it is immaterial whether one thinks they must earn their salvation or not. a "saved" person is known by their fruits either way. are people so dense they cant understand the lesson of the ten lepers in luke 17? or the rich young ruler and all that wealth he had? or the parable of the talents?
no, they dont even get it when they are told flat out:
luke 13
23Then said one unto him, Lord, are there few that be saved? And he said unto them,
24Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.
no wonder the "church" preaches security over responsibility. i am not contrary to the truth. ever.
