Possible negative effects of bentonite... Time for a new procedure?

Thanks for the links.

It does give you something to think about.

When it comes to bentonite, I have a few other concerns:

-- How long does Bentonite (in P&B shakes) stay in the intestines/colon after ingesting?
Can some of it perhaps stick to the colon wall as it passes, or stay behind in the bowel pockets?

... and connected to this:

-- What is the effect on the absorption of nutrients and herbs?
Let's say you use the recommended 5 P&B shakes per day... I doubt whether the advice to take the shakes at least one hour before and after taking supplements/herbs, is enough.

My fear is, that if I do P&B shakes while e.g. liver, or parasite, or candida cleansing... I render these cleanses ineffective, because the substances/nutrients are 'soaked up' by the Bentonite residues in the bowel.

I doubt whether a P&B shake will just form some kind of 'glob' which travels through the bowel. If that were the case, then maybe 'in between those globs' the colon would be free for the absorption of herbs etc. What if it spreads out?

With 5 shakes, there's only about 3 hours between them. If every 3 hours you -to some extent- 'coat' your bowel with bentonite(?), what is the effect on the herbs etc. you take? After all, Bentonite is used for food poisoning (just like activated charcoal), and is meant to absorb every substance it comes in contact with.

-- Long term use of bentonite might make you deficient in essential nutrients?

Now if anything is true of what is said on those two pages mentioned before... bentonite, because of it's absorbing qualities, might make you deficient when you use it over longer periods of time/ in large quantities.

>> Perhaps this possible problem might be solved by consuming less bentonite, for max. 3 weeks on end.

My bentonite product says: 1 (small) teaspoon bentonite in 8 oz. of purified water, in the morning, for 21 days. You are supposed to add the bentonite to a glass of purified water the evening before, and drink it on an empty stomach in the morning. Then wait one hour before eating or drinking anything else.
This is a 21-day cure.

I have been thinking... isn't taking bentonite like this as effective as consuming it 5 times a day? If you take it in the morning, it will travel all the way down the mostly empty bowel, absorbing toxins etc on the way.
Then during the day you take 5 full teaspoons of Psyllium ONLY with 2 glasses of water.
You can also let the first Psyllium shake of the day be the one with bentonite, and the other 4 without.
And before going to bed, you take your herbal laxatives as usual.

The only difference between the regular Bowel Cleanse is that you only consume bentonite in the morning on an empty stomach (if desired, with psyllium).

So a Bowel Cleanse would look like this:

(morning)

On an empty stomach: 1 teasp. bentonite clay in 8 oz. of purified water (prepared the evening before) + add one teasp. psyllium husks, stir/shake and drink, then drink 8 oz. purified water after. Wait 1 hr before drinking/eating anything/ taking supplements/herbs.

1 teasp. psyllium husks only in 8 oz. of pur. water, stir/shake and drink, then drink 8 oz. purified water after. (don't take herbs/supplements for 1 hr before and after)

(afternoon)

1 teasp. psyllium husks only in 8 oz. of pur. water, stir/shake and drink, then drink 8 oz. purified water after. (don't take herbs/supplements for 1 hr before and after the psyllium)

1 teasp. psyllium husks only in 8 oz. of pur. water, stir/shake and drink, then drink 8 oz. purified water after. (don't take herbs/supplements for 1 hr before and after the psyllium)

(evening)

1 teasp. psyllium husks only in 8 oz. of pur. water, stir/shake and drink, then drink 8 oz. purified water after. (don't take herbs/supplements for 1 hr before and after the psyllium)

Before going to bed: Take your herbal laxatives, and prepare bentonite for the next morning.

** Questions:

Does Psyllium alone scrape old fecal matter off the bowel wall just as well as in combination with bentonite (or perhaps even better)??

And considering you do take some bentonite on an empty stomach/bowel to absorb toxins... wouldn't a cleanse like this be as effective as the common P&B cleanse?

Concerning Psyllium: I thought (hope) psyllium doesn't give as much problems when it comes to absorbing useful nutrients/herbs as bentonite does (if you at least stick to the "1 hr" rule), but it will slow down the absorption in some cases, won't it? Hmm... I wish I knew exactly what psyllium does in this case. Is there anyone who can shed light on this?

Perhaps the most safe advice is still to do colon cleansing BEFORE, and IN BETWEEN other cleanses.
And when e.g. liver cleansing, just take a small dose of a herbal laxative or better: Oxypowder /Colosan to keep things moving (avoiding a lot of detox symptoms when released toxins don't move out fast enough). But be sure not to have diarrhoea, that will lessen the absorption of supplements/herbs too! Just softer stool is good, about 3 bms a day.
Also make sure to get lots of vitamins and minerals in between colon cleanses, to avoid getting too deficient.

I think I will do one of these last things when I start my cleanse in a week or so.
I don't like the idea of taking expensive supplements and herbs for e.g. the liver while on P&B shakes. It might be the same as just throwing them all down the drain.

What's your view on all this people?
