walking in industrial area, thinking about bad politicians

It was so nice to be able to resume walking on my *blessed* first real entire day off. Eating food came first, then errands, then giving my son a ride.

That's where the spontaneous idea for a walk in new territory presented itself to me. So I walked in the area by the shops where my son is a consultant while he was busy doing his consultations, which usually take an hour or so.

Again, it's another semi-industrial area, without sidewalks, and with oodles of unpredictable traffic coming in and out of the driveways, but if one is careful, it's as good a place to walk as any.

There had been a bit of a snowstorm a few days prior, so there were icy spots, but not many. I walked east and watched the bright sun moving towards a position straight overhead, as morning hurried toward it's close.

This is not a popular area with walkers or joggers, and I found myself the only one walking, with all other people either in cars driving, or getting in or out of cars to visit various businesses in the area.

I also found that the car fumes affected my lungs noticeably in this area.

Despite all this I walked east until I arrived at a street called Cherryvale, and I proceeded south on this street. It was nice to see birds and squirrels going about their daily business among the trees and bushes.

I thought about something I heard recently about a huge grove of old growth cottonwood trees being cut down a mile east of where I was walking. I am afraid to drive that way now, as it will be hard for me to view the barren land, minus these gorgeous hundred year old trees. Cleared because of increasing local traffic, apparently, and, I might add, bad decisions by local politicians who are entrusted with these kinds of decisions and perhaps shouldn't be.

There's someone hosting an Irish funeral for those fallen trees next weekend. I plan to attend.

Back to the present moment. Zoom. It was hard to keep going on this walk. I found myself still tired from being back at work after a nice restful 2 week vacation. It's a kind of tiredness that feels bone-deep.

I know the walking exercise will reinvigorate me if I just keep it up.

The air pollution continues to affect my lungs. After walking 1.2 miles I head back to where my son is doing his consultations.

Perfect timing! He is almost finished when I return.
