New House

Well, the past six weeks have been very difficult. Our long visit home was much harder than I had anticipated. However, we have moved into our new house, and now things are going very smoothly.

Dealing with my family during our "vacation" was extremely taxing and sad. Perhaps we are all going through personal issues that make it harder for us to get along. It seemed that no matter how low my expectations were, they were always undercut. I haven't really spoken with any of my family members since we left, so I can only imagine that they felt the same way about me. Maybe we all were trying, and it just wasn't enough. I know I was, but the results were pretty disastrous. Oh well. It was depressing, but it just puts into contrast how much I have to be thankful for in other areas. And with them, too. They aren't bad people. But there are definitely many times when being with them (or even speaking to them) makes me feel extremely bad.

We will be staying in our new house for more than a year! This is pretty typical for most people, but not for us. It will be the first time I am in one place for more than nine months in nine years! It is so exciting to think that I won't have to move! I am so thrilled. And our house has roses, which is just a fabulous bonus. It's corny, but on the way out to work, I can actually stop to smell the roses! Definitely better than stopping to smell the trash or the asphalt....

I can't believe how much I don't miss being in a city. I am loving the quiet and even the isolation. My food issues have really come out in the past month, especially under the stress. But aside from that issue (which I'm facing once again), I am doing really well. For once, I actually feel happy. And content. It is really, really nice.
