Blog: Fasting for Weightloss: Month of March Challenge
by Starrygirl75

Thinking about fasting in general.

Wanting to lose weight can bring a person to extremes, and though fasting most always causes weight loss, that's not supposed to be the goal.

I am wondering about how fasting is healthy for me since I have modified it. I should be doing a true water fast, but I don't know if I could pull it off. I know that water fasting is a very powerful tool for healing.

I hope that I am not causing anyone harm by posting my Blog. I know how powerful and inspiring the story of others is when you want to make a change in your life, especially when you are hurting (emotionally and physically) and desperate to feel better. I know that the reason the I have wanted better for myself, is reading the forums here on Curezone. I found that when someone posted that they lost weight when fasting, I (and others) wanted to ask so many questions to find out how we too could do it. I thought posting my experience would document what I went through. I have a crappy memory, I doubt that I could answer most of the question I would be asked if I am successful in my fast.

It's hard to know when what you are doing has turned from healthy and beneficial, to dangerous and destructive. I certainly don't want to aid someone in hurting themselves. My Blog is a snap shot of my experience, but I realize that these posts have to power to influence.

Please know that what I am doing is extreme. But I have done it in the past, and I know how my body reacts, though no one ever knows with absolute certainty how their body will react to anything, ever...period.

As a child, and a young adult my family and other people that I lived with, were poor. It wasn't uncommon for me to go a few days at a time without eating, just because there wasn't any food to eat. As an adult, I am fortunate to have an abundance of food (praise to GOD!). But over the past few years I have experimented with short-term fasting again, though I wasn't calling it that. I find that if I go for a day or so without eating, I feel really good physically and mentally. I like the mental-clarity that it provided. I lost a substantial amount of weight by doing this, over the course of a year.

I guess that I am going to the extreme of fasting for a longer period because I feel the need to "do something" about the way that I feel about myself, and to end this addiction with food. I gained a lot weight in the course of 8 months (27 pounds!) and I began to feel aweful about myself. I think that a lot of people will understand this cycle, you feel bad about yourself because you gain weight and then you eat more and you gain...it's a vicious cycle.

So, having said all of this, please be careful whatever method of weightloss you choose. The physical craving for food will leave you relatively quickly, the psychological craving for most of will take longer...but it will leave also. It will get harder to listen to your body. Each day that you don't eat will feel like an accomplishment, and each pound that you lose becomes a greater motivation to continue. It's easy to get sucked in to having this power of eating, especially if you feel like you have power over little else in your life.

I can't stress it enough, be careful.

More later,

starry
