Leslie Goldman, Your Enchanted Gardener, and Plant Your Dream blogger, shares inspirations from the Campaign to Grow A Healthier Pizza.
Robert Muller, then U.N. Assistant Secretary General, gave Leslie a U.N. Peace Medal in 1983 for the work he would do in his lifetime. That work continues to this day helping people everywhere to win back nature’s sacred heirloom seeds and nature’s original technology for life. Uncle Sam Marries “Anti” GMO is his latest campaign. He will be teaching this at the upcoming National Heirloom Expo, September 9,10,11, 2014 in Santa Rosa, California. Leslie can be reached at Plantyourdream AT cox.net or at 619.384.2631. Helping Uncle Sam Marry "Anti" GMO
This year I am creating the intention that there is a celebratory Wedding up ahead for the United States to regain our original vision. Will you help build a grassroots movement so that Uncle Sam gives up his unholy relationship with Biotech GMO in the farm bed and gets married to “Anti” (Auntie) GMO? The invitation to the wedding goes out to all who get engaged growing Heirloom seeds and ancient grain. The wedding date is in your hands! Being a matchmaker for this wedding is a job that belongs to many Anti-GMO Activists who I want to encourage to become gardeners. In taking up gardening, we can fulfill the vision of the Founding Presidents of America.
Our first Presidents had deep relationships with nature. I believe their vision can literally restore a more beautiful America. Andrea Wulf took up the theme in her book, “Founding Gardeners.” She states, " It’s impossible to understand the making of America without looking at the founding fathers as farmers and gardeners."
I see the need for thousands more gardeners and small size farmers rather than have our food supply centralized in the hands of a few growers. This is the continuation of our original vision.
This year, I want to encourage you not only to fight against a system of agriculture that is failing us, with power over food in the hands of a few, but through gardening with intention, help return a new vision of America the Beautiful. For more information, please join The Campaign to Grow A Healthier Pizza on Facebook.
Many seed freedom enthusiasts will be coming together at the upcoming National Heirloom Expo September 9, 10, 11 in Santa Rosa, California.
I can be reached at Plantyourdream AT cox.net or at 619.384.2631. To see the Presenters list, go to the National Heirloom Expo website here.

WHERE IS OUR GOVERNMENT TAKING US NOW?
Uncle Sam, initials U.S., is the personification of our Government. The U.S. Government is currently in the farm bed with Biotech's GMOs. Our government has become committed to a path of technology that best serves a One-Size-Fits-All Model.

Government appears to listen to the "moneybags" who benefit most from seeds, and foods that are standardized for commercial gain. My Campaign To Grow A Healthier Pizza encourages growing ancient wheat and heirloom seeds of many varieties. In 2011, The Campaign To Grow A Healthier Pizza began when the food industry convinced Congress to define pizza as a vegetable.. I was also inspired when I received one of the 160,000 packets of San Marzano Non-GMO tomato seeds from Baker Creek, donated to California’s 2012 Prop 37 that aimed to Label Genetically Engineered foods. My love affair with Kamut® Khorasan ancient wheat began the year before. Heirloom tomato seeds and Kamut® Khorasan are two ingredients that can be used to make a healthier pizza.
Pure Food Seed Freedom Heroine Katrina Frey of Frey Vineyard looks into the Pizza Box during the National Heirloom Expo 2013 Katrina helped Mendocino Country become one of the first places ever to ban growing GMOs. She is a strong supporter of Biodynamic Agriculture and this is practiced at the Frey Vineyard on America's oldest certified organic vineyard. Read about their nomination for the One World Award.
TAKE YOUR SACRED SEED OUT OF THE PIZZA BOX AND PLANT YOUR DREAM!
Indigenous corn on the march. This photo was taken at a March Against Monsanto San Diego, I am happy to see that the theme of the Activist as Gardener and Gardener as Activist is catching on.
Literal pizza boxes, decorated with inserts, have become my main teaching prop in the Campaign to Grow A Healthier Pizza. One insert contains seed packages of the many endangered varieties of heirloom corn that are now looking to us to become their gardeners. As we tear open the packages and plant our dreams with heirloom seeds, we become engaged in a personal growth process that leads to us getting our power back. The Pizza Box is also a metaphor not only for our current food delivery system, but the awareness that many of us have dreams that have been boxed in. Each person's task is to take our Sacred Seeds out of the symbolic Pizza Box and Plant your Dream. This process of planting seeds with intention helps us regain our beat with nature and helps us see again ourselves as Sacred Seeds. This is what I mean when I say Win Back Our Sacred Seeds. Many of us have become the equivalent of a piece of pizza in a box, feeding appetites with food that is no longer nutrient rich, grown with seeds of wheat, corn, and vegetables that have been genetically modified, and buying into a system that has no foundation in nature.
Inspired by modern research, GMOs, genetically modified organisms, do not compare to nature’s original technology. My dream is that Washington will accept that GMOs in our food supply are not healthy or good for us. GMO proliferation is a symptom of our estrangement from nature, and contrary to the nature of our soul. Nature's original technology represents a marriage of soul and nature, encourages individual dreams, and brings the best out of each person.
This is a circle of Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds. This seeds are intended for 1000's of gardeners. I am inspired with the thought that each gardener can play a role in preserving the heritage of diverse nations. If you and I do not commit to help preserve the heritage of diverse seeds so incredibly important to the U.S> Founding Gardeners and the children of tomorrow, who will? Kudos to Pure Food Seed Freedom Hero Jere Gettle, founder of Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds for preserving more than 1500 non GMO heirloom seeds in their available for us to grow out now.

TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR KNOWING HOW TO GROW SOME OF YOUR OWN FOOD
The Right to Know what is in our food, and the Know How to Grow Our Own Food go hand in hand. I see it as inevitable that we will Label GMOs. I believe a shift in consciousness is being asked for Uncle Sam to move closer to outgrowing GMOs. Food reform will come as we return to becoming a nation of many more eminent gardeners who have shifted our consciousness and healed our estrangement from nature. Eminence grows from planting your dream, living your dream, and growing some of your own food.
I see a grassroots movement made up of individuals living their dreams as a pre-requisite to influencing the consciousness of Washington. A marriage is needed that begins with us, inside us. I am speaking of a marriage between the soul - our essence - and nature. There are already so many of us who are in touch with the beat of nature. We will eventually create a ground swell that will touch more individuals in Washington.
WHERE FROM HERE?
People are becoming more and more engaged in the fight against GMOs. We are marching. We are creating consumer demand for labeling. There is a growing awareness that biotechnology in the farm field is a lost cause for many reasons. The Non-GMO Project verification process and consumer demand are creating a tipping point where more and more companies are producing products without GMOs, but there is still something deeper that is being asked by nature.
" So much of nature as he is ignorant of, so much of his own mind does he not yet possess. And in fine, the ancient precept, "Know thyself," and the modern precept, "Study nature," become at last one maxim.”
Ralph Waldo Emerson in The American Scholar.
Jeffrey M. Smith, Founder of the Institute for Responsible Technology (IRT) helps water our grassroots movement in a closing ceremony at the National Heirloom Expo 2012. When the Tipping Point arrives fully, we will have Pure Food Seed Freedom Jeffrey Smith to thank for playing a major role in this. Jeffrey is a regular at the National Heirloom Expo, this year September 9-10-11. Get your tickets now to let us know you are coming.

CULTIVATING GRASSROOTS MOVEMENT
You are invited to a wedding. The wedding couple is Uncle Sam—representing the U.S Government--and the "Anti" GMO movement. The date of the Wedding is in your hands. Are you ready to join this Grassroots movement?
When I see seeds growing in a single pot that I have planted with intention, and as I tend the plant, I am reminded how dreams and I, do in fact, grow naturally.
The invitation to the wedding goes out to all who grow Heirloom seeds and ancient grains. Growing Heirloom seeds and thousands of new gardeners go hand in hand. We are preserving multi-cultural biodiversity as we garden with heirloom seeds. Join me to engage more people with the power of connecting our intentions with the growth of heirloom seeds and healthy plants.
Frey Family Women and Friends danced at a wedding a few days after the 2013 National Heirloom Expo. They are holding the Pizza Box that contains dreams and heirloom seeds.
MY LOVE AFFAIR WITH KAMUT® ANCIENT KHORASAN WHEAT GRASS
Ancient Grain growing symbolizes the grassroots movement I see that needs to grow.
When I plant and grow Kamut® ancient Khorasan wheat into grass, this ancient grain reminds me of our grassroots movement growing. I am reminded of this quote: "When I touch grass, I touch infinity. Through the grass, I talk to the infinite, which is only a silent force. This is not a physical contact. It is not in the earthquake, wind, or fire. It is the invisible world of nature, of which I, too, am a part." — George Washington Carver.
Kamut® ancient wheat is a reminder of my reconnection with nature. It symbolizes a return to an earlier time when wheat was the staff of life and still can be. Planting Kamut® wheat seeds reminds me that every time an heirloom seed is planted with intention we can come one organic step closer to restoring the dream of America the beautiful, and cultivating the grassroots movement inside each of us. I am reminded of the power of a dream to grow. How Fast can a Dream Grow?~As Fast as a Blade of Grass!
Please see The Life Connection, Wheat story.
To shift your own seed relationship, I ask you to hold Sacred Seeds in hand, and engage with these words.

I am looking forward to submitting these to Baker Creek Rare Seeds for inclusion on a Seed Packet or two.
How more beautiful would the world be
if ALL the heirloom seeds sitting
on shelves in packages became
the plants they could be?
How much more Soul would there be
in the world if we allowed our
inner Seed Dreams to come out of their
‘packages’ and grow the ‘plants’ they can be?
How much passion and life would we feel?
How more peaceful and healthy would the
world be? Mother Earth says, “Plant Your
Dream!” because your Soul is intended to be
a fully-expressive heirloom seed
in her cornucopia of earthly abundance.
She wants you fully growing
in the world now.

TESTIMONIALS FROM YOUTH
<,i>Dear Uncle Leslie, I really enjoyed your presentation yesterday. It uplifted my spirits and made me feel like I had to do something to make our planet better. Personally, I don’t eat vegetables but everything you said changed my mind about it. I do need to change my eating habits and I do need to grow my own vegetables. You kept the classes’ attention. You were funny, and you kept us interested. You’ll probable be the man that’ll actually get our generation to do their part in helping rebuild our enchanted garden.

ABOUT THE NATIONAL HEIRLOOM EXPO
The National Heirloom Expo, this year September 9-10-11 2014, is an annual event held in Santa Rosa, CA. The event is a convergence of all those who aspire to live in the kind of relationship to earth that nature had in mind. It is a gathering of Pure Food Seed Freedom enthusiasts.
Photo of child attending the National Heirloom Expo, receiving gift of seeds
The second day of the National Heirloom Expo, the World’s Pure Food Fair, brings together busloads of children to focus on healthy food, and to encourage school gardens. In 2013, I presented an activity about how to create a healthier pizza. I gave away Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds donated by the Expo organizer. My intention was to foster healthier ingredients in the foods our children eat most often and introduce these rare seeds to new plant parents. I will do the same program with the children this year.
"This is the true myth of America. She starts old, old, wrinkled and writhing in an old skin. And there is a gradual sloughing off of the old skin, towards a new youth. It is the myth of America."

THIS IS THE OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE TO THE NATIONAL HEIRLOOM EXPO
For Immediate Release: National Heirloom Exposition—September 9, 10, 11
The Heirloom Event of the Year is coming to Santa Rosa, California, in just a few weeks. Baker Creek Heirloom Seed Company, the Petaluma Seed Bank, and other sponsors are excited about the 4th annual National Heirloom Exposition. The event has gained incredible interest among home growers, farmers, school groups and the general public over the past 4 years, that it is now a significant player in the world of heirlooms.
Located at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds in Santa Rosa, California, on September 9, 10, and 11, (Tuesday-Thursday) this event is expected to be vastly larger than any of the three previous Expos. With emphasis on the increased awareness of Label GMO campaigns across the country, there will be a particularly large presence of pure food advocates, truth in labeling activists, and many others interested in promoting healthy living.
This event is different from most other events in that it provides ample opportunity for attendee participation. In addition to experiencing our amazing line up of educational speakers, attendees may involve themselves with group discussions, food tastings, volunteer opportunities, and much more
Over the course of three days, more than 100 speakers will give a variety of informative and educational presentations on subjects as diverse as seed saving, genetically modified organisms, home gardening, food politics and policy, farming, marketing local foods, and more. The outstanding line up includes Dr. Joseph Mercola, a New York times bestselling author and health advocate; Vani Hari, a health and food activist who teaches people how to make good food purchasing decisions, how to live an organic lifestyle, and how to travel healthfully around the world; Jeffery Smith, one of the leading experts on the subject of GMOs and the dangers they pose to human health and environment; Percy Schmeiser, a Canadian farmer who was sued by Monsanto after the chemical company's Roundup Ready canola contaminated his canola crop; Andrew Kimbrell, founder and executive director of the Center for food Safety, and many more.
The National Heirloom Exposition is a not-for-profit event with all proceeds above expenses being donated to school gardens and other educational projects. In fact, educating youth about good food is so important that admission is free to anyone 17 years old and younger. In addition, Wednesday, September 10, will be Kids' Day, filled with presentations, contests, and activities specifically for school age children.
The American Livestock Breeds Conservancy, American Poultry Association, and other heritage animal organizations will conduct a livestock show with prizes. All kinds of gardening and food related exhibits will be judged for prizes. The event will once again feature the giant pumpkin contest, which last year drew an entry that weighed over 1400 pounds!
This National Heirloom Exposition will include the world's best trade show for the heirloom seed and food industry. Attendees can celebrate historic agriculture, horticulture, and food traditions with more than 250 leading companies of sustainable, ecological, and healthful goods and services.
Music lovers will not want to miss the Musical Extravaganza that will feature Sourdough Slim, Fly by Night, Petaluma Pete, and many others. Individual performers and groups will provide bluegrass, western, old songs with a new feel, traditional swing, instrumentals, and much more.
Many chefs from across the country will host food demonstrations and tastings, as well as a variety of lectures on food. The National Heirloom Expo is shaping up to be one of the most important “good food” events of the century with three days of great culinary learning and experiences. A vast array of fruits and vegetables will be available for sampling each day. In addition, many local food vendors will provide the opportunity to enjoy the international flavors of California as they feature meals and snacks prepared by quality chefs and from mostly local and organic ingredients.
Admission price is $10 each day or all 3 days for $25 for adults. Kids 17 and under are free! Exhibit hours are 11 am to 8 pm each day. Tickets may be purchased online at theheirloomexpo.com or may also be purchased at the gate. Anyone seeking more information may call Paul Wallace at 707-773-1336 or email
