Day 3 of Water fast (Started January 20, 2014)

I made it to day 3!! I am so proud of myself. I made it, I made it. So now, I just have to take every day slowly until I get to Day 15 (February 3rd – that doesn’t seem too far away, does it?) The goal is just to get to Day 6 (January 25). I don't know what D. or J. are doing. I don't know if she or the Cowboy is going to ask to see me or not. If he wants to see me, I might have to decline, because I won't have a lot of money to go to see him. I didn't budget any gas money for next week, as I still have a full tank (from not seeing him last weekend) and next week, I definitely won't have it, as I have to pay my lot rent. So I might be save until February 3rd. I just don't know yet.

I looked into Intermittent fasting and found this online:

"Put another way, your body does not experience significant detoxification during the first 12-24 hours of a water-only fast.

Your body begins to eliminate large quantities of toxins only after it begins to burn your fat reserves at a rapid rate. And this doesn't happen until you've used up the glycogen stores in your liver and muscles.

So when you fast one day a week, you deplete the stores of sugar in your liver and muscles, and you begin to break down your muscles - these are the main things you accomplish during the first day of water fasting.

Significant detoxification only begins to occur if you continue past day one of fasting.

This is not to say that there are no benefits to fasting one day a week, or that you don't eliminate any toxins during a one-day fast.

You are eliminating toxins with every breath that you take. And your body will always increase its rate of ongoing detoxification whenever you get more rest and/or eat less food, because less digestive burden and more physical rest always mean more available resources for detoxification.
Rather than fast one day a week on water only, I think it makes more sense to do a juice diet one day a week, or even once a month. With a juice diet, you can supply your body with enough nutrients that you don't have to deplete the sugar stores in your liver and muscles, or break down a lot of your muscle tissue. At the same time, because the nutrients in freshly pressed juices are so easily digested, a one-day juice diet can ease digestive burden and enhance ongoing detoxification to some degree.

But let's be clear: the main benefit of a one-day juice fast is not significant detoxification; it's a concentrated period of rest for your digestive organs, and an opportunity for the organs that are responsible for ongoing detoxification - your liver, kidneys, skin, and lungs - to do a little extra health-promoting work.

To sum things up, I would say that it's not good for long term health to fast one day a week on water only. If you want to give your body a period of rest and intense cleansing once in a while, it makes more sense to spend a day eating all raw fruits and vegetables, or drinking nothing but freshly pressed juices."

I think that I might once I have done a series of short fasts between 7 to 14 days., as I have planned tentatively (February, March, April and May. I don't know if I will do that many small fasts but it might be good to get to a good healthy base line.) Maybe I will set it down that I will juice fast one week every two months instead of every month. That sounds like it would be healthier for me then maybe water fast. Or I can alternate from one week of water fasting, then let a whole month go by, and then one week of juice fasting, and let a month go by. So the plan so far is (tentatively) is to start a week juice fast in July, a week water fast in September and then a week juice fast in November. Of course thing change.

Another thing I want to focus on as well, is buying chia seeds for my diet as well. I think that adding to my soups, salads, my fruit juices, and any of my baking would be a great addition to my diet. I found a great article which had 40 ways to use chia seeds in your diet. I really can't wait to try some of them. I guess you can add them to yogurt, and fruit juice and baking goods. Even pancakes. I really looks promising. It all sounds good. I don't want to look at food too much or I will want some. LOL.

So I press on to another subject, as boring as it is.

The Things that I accomplished already today are:

January 22, 2014

√ Make my Bed
√ Fed my cats and loved on them
√ Read a little
√ Write Morning pages (2 pages)
√ Work on my Budget
√ Finish book
√ Called my Dad
√ Do fasting one week month research

The Things I want to accomplish before I go to bed:

January 22, 2014

Pick up clothing
Fold clothing
Take out trash
Find colored pencils

WEEKLY GOAL FOR JANUARY 19th -JANUARY 25th, 2014

WORK ON BUDGET: This is going very well, and I am on target for this.

WRITE IN JOURNAL 7 TIMES: I wrote only 2 pages as I really wanted to lay in bed a little bit longer. I know tomorrow will be a real chore.

FINISH A BOOK: I finished Floating Worlds by Cecelia Holland. It was really good. I am a little disappointed on how it ended, but I know that is how Cecelia Holland writes her books. She doesn't do sequels. She writes one book and one book only This is the second book I have read of her. She is quickly becoming.

CROCHET 5 TIMES: Nope, I haven't worked on this at all. Disappointing.

READ BIBLE 7 TIMES: Still nothing on this one yet.

SAVE $20.00 IN SAVINGS: This one is budgeted to be taken out on Friday.

PLAN GARDEN: I have found a couple of my seed packets, but not the rest of them. It has been so cold lately that I have been just been tunneling down under my blankets when I get home, because I can't afford to run my heat on high. Once reason why I wish it was warmer out (at least 40 degrees would be better then only 3 degrees).

START WATER FAST: I am currently on Day 3 of my water fast. It is starting out okay and I am not feeling yucky at all yet. But I am sure either tomorrow or Friday, I will be feeling pretty nasty. I haven't noticed anything major, other than my urine is really dark, but that isn't surprising as I haven't been drinking a ton of water. I normally don't drink a lot when I start the first 3 days of a fast. I am looking forward to losing some weight, and watching my fingers and face get thinner. I noticed that my feet looked tiny when I was taking a shower (my feet get skinnier looking when I fast). But it is too early to notice anything. At least I got to Day 3. I know that a lot of people can't get that far. I just take one day at a time, when it comes to fasting. I know I have a lot of asspiration on this short fast: losing weight, feeling better about myself, etc, but focusing too much on what hasn't been officially accomplished yet, can lead to disappointment. So Just one day at a time for me. Or at least I will try.

DAILY MORALE: Accomplished

POSITIVE THING: I made it to Day 3 of my water fast. It isn't much, but it is something that I accomplished. I know that some people can't even get that far when they try.

EXERICISE: Walking, 3.05 miles, MORNING: 65 Jumping Jacks; 20 Squats; 20 second plank. (152 bpm, Aerobic); EVENING: none

WATER INTAKE: Approximately 16 ounces

WEIGHT: 145 pounds

INITIAL STARTING WEIGHT: 147 pounds (1/20/14)
