We have been organic growers of fresh herbs and produce in southern Missouri for 25 years. We recently started growing Wheatgrass and enjoyed the benefits so much that we put together a Wheatgrass growing kit to share with others in our area. Like many others mold has raised it's ugly head and we are looking for suggestions to control it. All suggestion are appreciated. I have been using an 3 parts organic compost, made by the city of Springfield, MO, and 1 part a product made by SunGrow Horticulture Dist. Inc called Metro-Mix 200 growing medium which contains vermiculite, Canadian sphagnum peat moss, perlite, dolomitic limestone for pH adjustment, wetting agent. All the research I done is of the opinion that dried kelp and greensand are beneficial to the growing Wheatgrass.
