Another thing to remember, is; following an immune attack, there are factors released by cells that are designed to stop it. It is homeostasis of the immune-system. Immune-system activation can kill you very quickly if it is not brought under control fast. After so many activations, it goes into a "general maintenance" role. This is very hard to turn around-- parasites are are smart, and know this.
