Hi christybelle & roooth...My husband and I are on a diet and really doing quite
well, to our great surprise. :-) He's 61 & I'm 60 and we went on this diet because
the doctor said I needed to lose 10 pounds to help a health problem. My husband
needs to lose about 25 pounds & I wanted to lose the 10. However, I've lost the 10
now and want to go on for 6 or 8 more pounds. He's 5'11 and weighs 220, & I'm 5'
and weigh 125. But we're retired and do a lot of strenuous work all day most every
day. So we don't want to lose our strength and stamina, that's for sure. We hope
to stay healthy and active for a couple more decades, at least :-) and to do that,
I feel a person must stay very active & happy.

Since I was having a fairly serious health issue going on, I really researched before we began this diet. We've been on so many diets in our 40 years together,
I couldn't even count them. But they were usually very painful and stressful. :-/
But by the time we started this one, we were so used to eating fairly healthy, it
has been a piece of cake. (Oh my goodness, well now you know where MY mind is) :-)

We've only been on this diet 17 days...and have only wavered on Mothers Day when
we had family out for lunch after church.

I studied several of the popular diets to decide what I thought would work best for us and our daily routine and decided we needed a low carb, low to medium protein 'diet', but one with plenty of healthy foods in it...so here's what we've been eating:

We start the day with about 4 boiled eggs...(4 whites and 1 yolk for each of us)
and we have our daily coffee with cream.

We're so busy, we don't usually stop for lunch on even a regular day, but if we
do have something, it's usually a big salad, which I keep in the frig already
made up. I make it daily...first thing in the morning. In this salad...I use
Romaine lettuce, chopped onion, marinated artichokes (very good for the heart)
and parmesan cheese. The salad dressing is olive oil blended with a little apple
cider vinegar & and a very little water...I add just a little parmesan cheese to
that to thicken it. This salad is delicious and very filling.

At supper, we have more salad...and we 'split' a round rib eye steak or we have
extra lean ground chuck patties with braised bell peppers, onions, celery, you
can just throw in any low carb veggie to braise it. We even do this sometimes
with the steak.

For an evening snack, we have sliced apples spread lightly with peanut butter.
That is delicious and so satisfying. Or we'll snack on almonds...just a few.

We're drinking LOTS of water. Now we have too much going on to 'count' our glasses
like a lot of people do. But we probably get down 6 to 8 glasses a day.

I'm really surprised we're losing so fast and so easily, as this is really a lot
more food than we're used to on a regular diet free day.
We began following the advice of Owen, a great friend from curezone, and we normally
start our day with cottage cheese and almonds or 2 or 3 brazil nuts...work right
on through lunch...and then have our juice sometime during the day and a salad and
or veggies for supper, once in a while with a very little chicken or fish and once
in a while a steak.

On this diet...we have left off all sugar, dairy and floury foods (bread, etc).

We haven't been walking, even though we intended to...but we're remodeling too &
and just have extremely full days right now.

Anyway...this is what "we're" doing and it's really working well for us.

For 'me' ... always before...the more I thought about diet...and what we were going
to eat...the more I WANTED to eat....so I just decided to make this as simple as I
could...with simple foods.........we've had no cravings after the first couple of
days...we have had no problem whatsoever sticking to this diet.

Good luck to both of you! kathryn
