People like him don't have the ability to love. In their mind, love is simply a word and something that other people pretend is meaningful (it is useless and meaningless to them).

The mindset of people like him is that they are only "ALIVE" when they are in control and cause events in THEIR world (their life). They will:
1) CAUSE people to be sad.
2) CAUSE people to be happy (at times that they CHOOSE, by temporarily not causing the sadness).

Whenever ANYTHING good happens in your life, if they did not and could not have had anything to do with causing it (like if you were on vacation), they will try to convince you that IT WAS because of something they taught you and that they somehow contributed/CAUSED your happiness, otherwise, they simply don't care that you were happy. They want the glory of your happiness and want to IMAGINE themselves responsible for everything you experience (they want to be YOUR "god"). When a friend gives you a gift, he (the abuser/control freak) will belittle the value of the gift because all "true" goodness is supposed to come only from him. So, don't think he will love someone MORE, he cannot truly love anyone.

People like this CANNOT change, they always saw reality differently since birth. It is not LIKE a paradigm shift in thinking, it IS a paradigm shift in thinking (different dimension).

Whenever anyone needs to make a decision about anything, two things are (or should be) considered.

1) what is beneficial (FAIR/good) for all parties involved,
2) what is beneficial to "self".
(and righteously, we find a balance).

People like him laugh at number 1, they consider #1 to be for fools only. They consider #1 to be for "Nice guys" that "finish last", but, take heart...

"the first shall be last and the last shall be first".
