Hi there,
I'm no expert, just someone who has experienced the same pain.
Sounds like you are aware of diet improvements you could make. Reading "foods that heal" will help lead you toward the right foods.
You could start by drinking more water. Read "water cure" on this site.
I used to wake up with that excruciating pain in my heal that is associated with PF.
The two biggest things that helped me were:
1. Calf stretch: Get a towel, and sit on the floor. Stretch calves by sitting on the floor with one leg straight out, the other bent (like hurdler's position, or just bent in front of you). Hold each end of the towel in each hand. Loop the towel around the ball of the foot, and gently pull keeping knee straight. You can try this with or without shoes, and see which way works best for you.
2. Water therapy: Simply run hot water on your foot, then alternate to cold. As hot (without burning!) and cold as you can stand. Alternate back and forth, and end with cold. Good if you can alternate up to seven times each of hot and cold for a total of 14.
You can do them in different orders to see which way works best. When I had problems with PF, this made all the difference. If I did it, I woke up in the morning pain free.
You're in a good place. You'd be amazed at what a difference the right foods can make. FYI, caffeine will definitely make your muscles tight. Filtered water can help flush out those nasty toxins.
Good luck, and read about those foods that heal :>
