"Were you able to feel satisfied after a meal with vegetables only?"
"Were you able to stick with, say, just beautiful mixed salad for lunch and that's it?"

NO! BIG FAT NO, lol! I usually have salad for lunch, it doesn't even have to be a big salad, but I do have to eat it with plenty of olive oil and preferably an avocado. If I try to quit after eating a salad, no I don't feel satisfied. But I found through experimenting that if I eat a salad and then have a wedge of raw cheese or a big handful of walnuts THEN I'm satisfied and I won't need to eat anything else till supper.

That's where knowing your body type (which I also learned from Andreas book) is so useful. My body type is different from my husbands. I require lots of fats. He's happy with just a small drizzle of oil over his vegetables. I want plenty of butter or bearnaise sauce on mine. If I had to eat plain dry vegetables or had to live on a low-fat diet, I'd just as soon throw myself off a cliff.

You might be different, though, so what works for me might not work for you. You have to learn and experiment on yourself. My understanding went way up when I read Andreas book. I kept thinking, "Oh that explains THAT!" and "No wonder I was having such a hard time!" I don't need to beat my body into submission, or starve it, or try to trick it, I just have to listen to it. Who would have guessed I could lose weight eating gallons of hollandaise? It's not a question of can you stick with it, it's about finding out what works for YOU.
