Hello G-man,

Just as there are many players in the game of football, there are many players (or contributing factors) to your eczema flareups. You don't have to quit the game of football to beat the eczema flareups; the better option would be to quit those things in your diet that are creating the imbalance in your immune system, resulting in a sweat release with a high level of toxicity. Sweating is necessary for the body. The skin is the body's temperature regulator; and sweating is the body's way of cooling down to avoid overheating. What your body is messaging with the eczema flareups, after sweating, is the high level of toxicity in your body and your external environment. To use a football terminology, eczema has you in the defensive position and is scoring many points in the offensive position. Therefore, you want to go back to your 'play' book and pull out what I'm going to call the '3 attack point' offensive play. In this 'play', you want to tackle the internal, external, and foreign. By knocking those three players out, you are able to score the winning points needed to defeat eczema.

Understanding your opponents and being able to anticipate their movement is key to achieving a successful tackle. Allow me to provide you some brief descriptions regarding your opponents.

Internal relates to your body's immune system. Imbalance is the mode of operation for this opponents eczema production. The imbalance is fueled by poor or inadequate nutrition. Soft drinks, coffee, alcoholic beverages, and processed foods high in saturated fats and sugars are its fuel of choice. For a successful tackle against this opponent, the vitamins, minerals, and protein necessary for healthy immune function will need to be implemented in your daily diet. Your intake of water, fruit, and vegetables may need to be increased to restore your immune health and place you in the offensive position. Also, a detox (liver cleanse, parasite cleanse, etc.) will go a long way towards restoring your immune health.

External relates to your skin care regimen. The mode of operation for this opponent are the harsh, drying chemicals found in certain soaps, cleansers, or moisturizers. Yet another instigating factor regarding the external are symptom suppressing medications that perpetuate a cycle of suppression and flareups. To successfully tackle this opponent, you will need to search out natural, vitamin/mineral enriched cleansers and moisturizers that will work with your body's natural chemistry to promote healing. One option that may work for you is Shikai's Moisturizing Bath and Shower gel followed up by their Borage Skin Therapy lotion for moisturizing. Another option is the Burt's Bees exfoliating/shower soap for men followed up by the Burt's Bees Buttermilk lotion. There are a multitude of natural skin care options available on the market. Finding your right fit will be key to your success with this knockout tackle.

Foreign relates to allergen/irritant identification. The mode of operation for this opponent is toxic invasion. Its players range from food allergens to airborne allergens to chemical sensitivities. A successful tackle against this opponent is identification; due to the fact that as long as it remains hidden, it can continue its toxic invasion into your system. In the case of the contact allergic eczema manifestations down your arms, back, chest, and neck, the hidden irritant could lie in the fabric or the detergents used to clean the fabric. When you sweat, your pores are opened up and the moisture contact (sweat) with the fabric could produce a chemical release of detergent or bleach back onto and into the skin, causing the eczema irritation. In that case, white cotton t-shirts are your best fabric choice; along with the cleansing of your t-shirts or jersey in an all natural detergent (such as the Bi-O-Kleen laundry liquid or premium powder).

To summarize, all three opponents (internal, external, and foreign) will need to be tackled in order for you to defeat the eczema. You can't leave any one of those opponents open. Consider this your half-time locker room speech. You don't have to quit the game; you just need to go out and 'offensively' defeat your eczema opponent.
