There is a special diet that involves avoiding sulfites (also spelled "sulphites"), and salicylates that REALLY helps some people with low blood Sugar and adrenal issues. The type of person this would help is the one who is sensitive to sulphites and salicylates, and didn't know it - these two things are in many foods, and if a person doesn't know which to avoid, any diet would at random include these two nasties. Especially diets with lots of fruits and vegetables, because it takes selecting only certain fruits and vegetables to avoid much of these two problematic ingredients.
And the biggest thing I'm reading about this is: for those people, Sugar in moderation is NOT a big aggravator of adrenal problems (gasp). NOT. Its the sulphites and salicylates often in the same sweet food, or earlier that day, that make Sugar wreak havoc on the adrenals and pancreas. The people get hyperactive at times, and mistakenly blame recently eaten sweets or too much fruit. Well, apparently if these people can instead avoid most salicylates and sulphites, suddendly their bodies are able to handle other things much better, in moderation. Starches too.
The place I read about this diet was actually at a site for people who have figured out that they are sentitive to these two things. I did not know that I was. THe site does not go in depth at all into adrenal issues, but a small mention in the site that someone could suddently control their blood sugar, after eating all sorts of refined starch and sugar after a birthday party meal, after going on the no sulphite no salicylate diet, caught my interest.
I got rid of most of a bad case of hypoglycemia last year by using a zapper - which happened to kill off some parasite that had been a problem for me. But the remaining 10% of the hypoglycemia problem never goes away for me.
However, in the last two days I've followed a low salicylate low sulphite diet, and I'm suddently on smooth sailing with blood sugar all day, all evening, into the next morning - it's great.
The site noted below also talks about another item that bothers some people, amines. I didn't eliminate those. Basically, of the three problem things, some people with adrenal issues may have a sensitivity with one or more of the three problem items listed in this web site: (the bottom of their home page has buttons to go to info)
