Just thought I'd share some encouraging thoughts...

I'm sure as we're all going through this, people have made the comments of "we're all going to die anyway, you can't be so 'paranoid' about what you eat/use to clean your house/put in your body overall/etc." I have felt great while doing this diet. (Although I love the title Maker's Diet, I don't really consider it a diet, more of a way of eating or way of life even!) Along with the dietary changes, I have purchased and read several books which Rubin recommends including Nourishing Traditions, The Safe Shopper's Bible, Body By God (not mentioned in MD), etc. One fact that I have read many times in these books is that disease is caused by something being wrong internally. Even headaches are caused (sometimes, if not stress or serious problems) by toxins in the body. Just yesterday, I was thinking about how true I have found this and today it was confirmed...here, I'm getting to my point. I just started teaching elementary school part time and had been sick more this past year than in my whole life combined from those kids! If not every week, I was literally sick every other week (and I was always a healthy person). Since starting the Maker's Diet almost two months ago, I have had no illness--not even a headache--literally! Well, if I needed confirmation about toxins, here it was. Today, I went to the dentist and had to get a few fillings. As he was shooting me up with novicane, I was thinking how my body was not going to react well to this, as I had worked so hard to reduce toxins. Sure enough, a few hours after leaving the dentist, I got my first headache in almost two months--and a bad one at that! Talk about confirmation that everything we put in our body causes almost anything that's worng with us! Makes me wonder what I had been eating in the past that caused those headaches out of nowhere everyone considers normal to get once in a while!
