The place where I get my milk is pretty far too, So we just bought an extra freezer and I get about 7 or 8 gallons each time and freeze them so I only go every few months.
I have made the salsa (it is in The Maker's Diet and Nourishing Traditions) and I tried the bean paste from Nourishing Traditions and used it as bean dip. Both of those are good. The lemon cooler from Nourishing Traditions is easy to make and easy to add a little to your water or tea everyday. Most health food store have Bubbies pickles that are really suppposed to be fermented, you might try those if yours don't work. Let me know how it goes.
