Hi, I am a woman with a very small umbilical hernia and my personal opinion is that hernia is not to blame on parasitical infections, or at least not always. My hernia simply results from pregnancy . I know other people who got inguinal hernia from strain. I think that hernia can result from parasites only if you have a huge belly with extremely poor muscle tone, so that colon pockets can push out easily, but this was not my case. If abdominal muscle tears, then hernia can happen, period. If you have a normal abdomen and good muscle tone, tearing cannot occur from a parasitical infection IMO.
I know most doctors would disagree, but my personal feeling about the whole thing is that exercising a bit the herniated area, WITHOUT straining, does a lot of good and keeps the situation from getting worse.
