Harmonious discussion of ideas, as it should be,
I am fascinated by the latest ideas on alcoholism. As we all know, the recovery rate just sucks. I have been at this getting and staying sober business long enough to see that. Most of us just go on blotting out the pain with alcohol and drugs to the bitter end.
Anything that has the hope or short-circuiting that sad outcome is worth looking into. One of the things AA taught me was to keep an open mind; sometimes some of us forget that. We need, all of us, to keep open to new ideas.
I agree with you that all things are connected. We are a marvelous dance of chemical and electrical signals. We, all living things are an incredibly complex construct of organic molecules that communicate with each other chemically and electrically.
And in that, what you are looking at, acidity imbalance is a valid pursuit. And I hope that it works as well as it seems to be. Like I said before, how we get sober is of much less important than the fact that we do.
But, and don’t you just love the word but… I believe we are more than just the sum of our chemically and electrical parts. We are all the above, we are animals, genus Homo sapiens, but I believe we are more. I like the expression that we are spiritual beings having a human experience. And I also believe that my alcoholism was and is a symptom of a spiritual malady. I believe alcoholism is a physical disease, it is a mental disease, and it is a spiritual disease. It, like everything else about us, is a dance with more than one partner on the floor.
At any rate, it is good we can exchange ideas as friends,
Richard
