Boy, do I agree. I have spent buckets of money on supplements, and some have helped a little, or for a little while, but I am so burned out on popping capsules all day long with minimal results. I started the Body Ecology Diet a couple weeks ago, and I'm doing a whole lot of cultured veggies and kefir (I'm doing milk kefir instead of the conconut water kefir because I feel like I can tolerate it, and it's much easier). I think getting your nutrients (and particularly the healthy flora for your gut) from food is far superior to anything that's been processed into a capsule. There's another good book out there called Conscious Eating by Gabriel Couzens, M.D. Very comprehensive book on individualized nutrition programs for your particular constitution.

I also did my first Liver Flush this past weekend (after a number of months of previous colon & parasite cleansing), and it was a little draining, but I definitely got out stones, and I plan to do them monthly - I believe cleansing and detoxing the liver can only assist in building my defenses against candida overgrowth. The only thing that concerns me is what I've read about the yeast organisms being very smart and adaptable to various antifungals, which is why some things seem to work marvelously for awhile, but then you kind of level off or go back into your usual symptoms. I've read if you are doing anti-fungals, you're supposed to rotate them. I guess that's more proof that it's important to really cleanse toxins, then work on balancing things like bowel flora and PH so that you develop your own defenses against invaders. In the Body Ecology Diet book, she says that the cultures in the lacto-fermented foods will actually begin to heal the lining of a leaky gut. I'd heard colostrum & some other stuff was good for that, but that's the first time I'd read about lactobacillus & friends being involved in patching holes, but I guess it makes sense - they probably allow your body to do what it innately knows how to - heal.
