Regarding biofilm's importance to skin parasite and fungus growth, and how to reduce or eliminate its production:
Biofilm production is essential to both parasite and fungus survival, growth, and reproduction.
Eliminate biofilm, and parasites and fungus have limited if any opportunity to survive and/or thrive.
I am trying out medical grade silicon (polydimethylsiloxane) aka PDMS available OTC at most pharmacies in the first-aid scar repair/healing product section. "Scar-Away Scar Dimishing Serum" or generic versions which usually contain 100% polydimethylsiloxane.
Just starting to use PDMS on areas that have been successfully (for the most part) treated, but previously had immediate biofilm and then parasite reinfection - the cycle most of us endlessly endure.
I will post the results of applying as needed throughout the day to sustain 24/7 coverage (4 times a day at min).
If anyone else has used, appreciate your comments.
Note that Diatomaceous earth (DE) that is commonly referenced as helpful to skin parasite treatment is made up of approx. 85% silicon dioxide versus 100% medical grade silicon often used today on medical devices to prevent biofilms from sticking to and growing on them.
