Yes, but put simply. There are a multitude of other factors to consider first, like the overall health status of the patient. This includes preexisting conditions, like diabetes, cancer, other atypical and chronic diseases.

People are not all immunologically designed the same way, and possess diversity as a safeguard to the herd.

This ensures species survival. The antigen structures on some parasites can find compatibility with certain people, and can therefore cloak themselves from immunity factors.

There is a scale of course, meaning for example, at 1-4 minimal immune recognition and reaction. At 4-7 significant reaction and defense, 8-10 immunopathology, and even death.

If the parasite is attacking tissue, or producing recognizable toxin, the healthy body will generally react. If it just pollutes and and feasts on nutrient, it might get away with it.

Some more complex parasites can modulate the host immune system, and over populate causing host pathology, or even death.
