If the intensity of addiction is low then a constant support, counselling and a strong intention to drop alcohol would be enough. But if the addiction is at its peak, like the person showing criminal behavior when kept away from alcohol, then extra care should be taken like going for an inpatient rehabilitation center . They have got their own methods or programs to deal with such patients. Psychiatric treatments, educational lectures, individual counseling etc. which would help them recover.
