Not to let you down, but this whole worm thing in my family cane about when my 8 year old was sick- throwing up and green diahrreah for like 3-4 weeks. Doctors wouldnt see her without a fever so i took her to the ER her eosaphils were high so the sent us home with a speciment collection jar and a slip for an ova/ parasite test to drop off monday. The while time I never once considered a parasite. I was worried she had some liver or gallbladder issue because her poop was so pale, i never saw that before .I told my daughter to tell me when she had to poop again so we could have it ready for monday. So the next night, Sunday night before bed she had to go so i held the jar for her to go in and as i was putting the lid on the jar, these tiny white worms stood up like hair standing up on an arm and started wiggling. Holy shit I almost passed out when i saw that. I ran to show her dad, gathered up the whole family and ran back to the ER with the sample. The doctor looked at it and said it was PINWORMS. Against hospital policy, he wrote us all prescriptions for albenza, we went home and popped the pinworm poo in the fridge and took it to the lab the next morning. I had to call her pediatrician a week later because i wanted to know what the lab said.. her pediatrician said "good news, her stool test came back negative for parasites and ova" i about flipped my shit.. i was like, HOW is this test saying negative when there clearly were live worms in it wiggling and coiling up!! She kind of stuttered and said that pinworms will not show positive on a parasite/ova stool test because they don't consider them to be parasites! Only a "pinworm smear" can detect the presence of ova. You're kidding me, right? Oh, and sometimes the pinworm smear needs to be repeated 3 times to get a +
So, i hope your doctors/labs are better than mine and they can give you an answer.
I see GI in 3 days, but I'm doubting they will help me. The only hope for me is this forum and the members here who can guide me. That being said, i saw someone post a photo for identification and climber said it looked like a whipworm. It looked exactly like a majority of what i can manage to get out, minus the things that the er doctor said were tapeworms. I now believe the "tapeworms" to be mucoid plaque or the beginning of what some people call rope worms. Whipworms also move around a lot, so that explains the feeling of something always moving way up my butt and now in my torso and chest. I'm not sure what im goig to say to GI yet. I want to make no mention of the internet and just show him my photos and samples if i can get any more out. I'll let ya know how it goes.
Good luck!
