Stammering, I doubt it. Unless the obesity is causing some underlying problem. Depression, most definitely. When you are obese, literally everything is physically more difficult to do, and even doing nothing at all, the extra weight puts a tremendous strain on your organs. Think of how you would feel if it took extra effort just to clean yourself after using the bathroom for example. Worse, gaining weight is much easier than LOSING it. Most people have trouble reaching for long term goals, so when someone knows it could take months or years to get healthy, they feel a sense of hopelessness, especially when getting healthy means making lifestyle changes they aren't mentally willing or even FINANCIALLY able to make. Fresh produce can be very expensive, especially if you live in an area that isn't known for it. The selection at Walmart is markedly different from Whole Foods. Then there's the constant barrage of little things, like worrying about how others see you, or seeing clothes you'd like to wear and can't fit into, seeing someone you think is attractive and you automatically feel they'll reject you because of your size, wanting to play with your kids or do activities with friends but not being able to be active for more than 10 minutes at a time, worrying about Body Odor from excessive sweating, or even not being able to wash effectively, even the...mechanics...of sex can change if someone is obese, causing great embarassment and frustration, and obviously the worries about Body Odor come up then too. Over time, things like that can add up, and add a tremendous mental strain to the physical one.
