Hello I'm a 25 year old married father. Last Friday I started the Interferon treatment for my hepatitis c. The doctors said there will be alot of side effects including nausea, fatigue, mood swings, irritability and others and I should report them as they come along. So 4 days go by and I start getting side effects so I call the doc or nurse to report them. On day 5 whilst I was changing my crying baby I felt my aggregation level go up so I put her back in the bassinet and woke my wife stating that I didn't feel comfortable and she would have to take over I was going to sleep in the living room. First thing in the morning I notify everyone in my household if the episode and to please keep an eye on me and let me know if they notice changes. Then I got on the phone to report the irritability side effect and my doctor says ill get back to you. So 3 days later and a dozen phone calls and no responses to the issue and no calls back. On the forth morning I go to the doctors and get my shot. The doc has a therapist come in and goes through the list of accusing depression, and being suicidal which I am none of then goes onto say sorry to have to say this but I'm reporting you to Dcf I don't feel the baby is safe. At which point I did not want to hear that and walked out. If it was that serious then when did they not address the issue when I called a dozen times? For instance what if something had happened to my daughter or anyone else during that time of no responses? Should they not be liable for patient neglect or something and did they have the right to report me to Dcf after putting me on meds, telling me to report the side effects, not addressing the side effects and then penalizing me for reporting them? I'm am very distraught over this and I do not believe that I should have had Dcf in my house with police for 3 hours and coming back in 3 days to follow up?
