Improper conversion of beta carotene to vit. A looks like liver issues.
I would also look into parasites for your brain chemistry. Some parasites subtly guide you into susbscribing to the Ray Peat pint-of-ice-cream-per-day scenario. :)

It's interesting info about the serotonin, but you have to dig deeper to find the cause(s). I think manipulating the major neurotransmitters like that is a band-aid.
parasites are notorious for causing all sorts of sleep disturbances. Teeth grinding (bruxism) is a major one, jerking awake suddenly, drooling while asleep, insomnia, itching anus, relief of symptoms by eating junk food, chocolate, sugar, etc (placating the beast).
