Hi. I was reading your post. I've had smokey bo since kindergarten. I was sent home early from kindergarten b/c the teacher said my mom had to bathe me. I was taken to the pediatrician, and he said "it's a little girl's hormones."
Well, I am 32 now. My odor comes and goes. Recently, I too, high doses of Spirulina and Biotin. And the last two months, my bo has been very serious. I have worked at the same place for a year, and never had an issue at the workplace. But the last two months, it has been horrible. To the point people had to leave early b/c I was bothering their "allergies" so bad. One person sucked on cough drops all day long. And there was constant, constant coughing and nose blowing all day long. It was humiliating and unbelieveable.
So suffice to say, I've been doing more research than usual. I also bought the Thai/Crystal deodorant. I used it at work, and noticed as soon as I sprayed it, it did neutralize the odor. But only for about 10-15 minutes. It's really strange.
I've had relief recently with magnesium citrate. But I initially bought saline laxative magnesium citrate oral solution. It is 10 ounces. It moved my bowels very well. It has been proven that a high level of magnesium reduces catecholamine. Hence the cholamine. I'm guessing that is why the magnesium is helping. Animals that are stressed release catecholamines (epinephrine/norepinephrine). This may be why when we are under stress, the smell is worse. One of the effects of releasing this stimulation of glycogenolysis.
Also, carnitine is an amino acid. I have been reading a lot about this and leucine-imbalance. Leucine imbalance could very, very well be the cause of a lot of people's persistant Body Odor . It definately is worth investigating. Definately. But carnitine is a vital component in the systen. We use this to turn fat into fuel. If you do not have enough carnitine in the tissues, the fat can be deposited...and the body then has to switch to glucose or amino acids as fuel for the body. This could be a cause of A LOTA of BO in people. L-Glycine is used to treat a leucine imbalance and hyperacidity of the belly. Leucine imbalance, which causes offensive BO and bad breath, also has HGH releasing properties, similiar to L-arginine. If you want to see if this is the cause of your BO, you can take Glycine and Carnitine. It will "cure" the BO a lot if this was your disease all along. I know that when I took Niacin, the flush Niacin, it did not decrease my BO, but I felt wonderful for the first time in my life. I felt "normal." I can't explain it. I've researched for the past few years trying to figure that out. Why did the niacin make me feel so good? I couldn't figure it out. But I've learned that an amino acid imbalance may play a role in being severely niacin deficient. And even if you are deficient in niacin....1 mg of niacin is equal to 60 mg of tryptophan. I believe if there is a leucine imbalance, you are not able to produce these two vitamins. So that may be why the niacin made me feel so good. Also, if you are deficient in B1, 2 and 6, it is IMPOSSIBLE for Niacin to be converted to Tryptophan. I know a lot of holistic doctors give patients tryptophan for depression/anxiety. all I know is Niacin helped me tremendously with my shyness/anxiety/depression/failur to thrive. But only the Flush Niacin.
I know a lot of us believe we have TMAU. I've belived that for a very long time. But now, I'm not so sure. I'm thinking tmau is very similiar to a lot of the other BO causing disease. And TMAU is just the disease most researched. I dont know.
But I also did an enema with water and a small amount of hydrogen peroxide. That was the most effective by far. My feces was clay like and smelled almost like motor oil. And I had so much mucous come out. Initially, I thought it was parasites. But it was mucous. I hear a lot of relation between renal failure and tma. I believe there is a link. I had a lot of mucous plaque. And when I took the enema, I would rub the lower right side of my back, almost my side, and it would loosen up the mucous and impacted feces. It was so strange. If you have time, look up distal RTA. Also, I believe that the smell we have is related to VOCs. They are very, very votaile.
And also, if you have a "garbage like odor" it it probably due to methyl sulfide, hydrogen sulfide (SOX) and sulfur oxide (SOX). These are VOCs and cause coughing/sneezing in a lot of people. Smokey odors are due to acetaldehyde, ammonia and acetic acid. All of the VOCs cause health disorders. Maybe not in us, b/c we have lived with these "smells" all of our lives. But people who readily excrete these are very, very sensitive to these smells. Ammonia and trimethylamine are actually emitted into the air from facicilites like carcass processing plants and sewage treatment plants. They (trimethylamine, ammonia, sulfur) have malodorous compounds followed by irritation of the eyes, respiratory tract and naseau. This is why I believe people on the PATM forums are causing a reaction in people. Also, I believe this the reason many doctors say to use activated charcoal. It has a high absorbtion performance for VOCs (like trimethylamine) but it is very poor for polar chemicals, like ammonia and hydrogen sulfide (which is rotten egg odor). That is why I believe activated charcoal will not work for some people. Or may only partially give relief. Another possible reason charcoal may not work for some is because many investigations show charcoal changes structurally and chemically as a resulf of manufacturing temperature. I've read a study that states bamboo charcoal carbonized at 500 degrees C poses a higher absorbability for ammonia gas than those at 700 and 1000 C. Also, similiar to ammonia, methylamine, dimethylamine and trimethlyamine (the amines.) So I belive it is possible that depending on the process the manufacturer of the charcoal is using...it may not be effective in absorbing the toxins we accumulate. So if one product doesn't seem to do the trick, you can always move on and try another one before giving up on it.
Also, a note on the copper supplement. I've read that humans/animals have sensative smell of odor of VOSs compounds. Malodorous volatile thiols are "protein degradation" products found in putrid food. And sulfur compounds are found where oxygen levels are low. So I'm guessing that is why a lot of people are suggesting hydrogen peroxide therapy/ozone treatment. And of course, "putrid food" is building up in our bellys and building up. So I'm guessing that is why they say stay away from red meat. Copper is required for highly sensative detection of certain volatile thiols and sulfur compounds.
Also, you said you noticed a "leather smell." You should read about sodium sulfide. It is an organic sulfide. It has a strong putrid stench. And it is used in dyes and in leather and crude petroleum processing. I bet you have a build-up of this toxin.
Also, about the probiotics. The "friendly flora" (probiotics" produce B complex vitamins. I'm guessing that is why a lot of doctors recommend some (but not all) of the Bs. They also assist in management of some liver conditions, and also, they prevent harmful bacteria from alternating nitrates to nitrites ...(another VOC). And the nitrites are Known carcinogens. There was a study that proved patients infected with Giardia lamblia were 100 percent lactoce intolerant. All of the patients that had this bacteria were Lac. Intolerant. Amazing.
Also, for the skin. Anerobic bacterium (propionibacterium acnes_ inhabitate the sebaceous gland. This bacteria is bad, and is not destroyed even by soaps or skin cleansers. This is a major contributor of acne. S. Aureus are able to persis on the skin and is a big source of infection on the skin. (acne). But this may be a reason, or party a reason, why a lot of lotions are not helping us.
I have recently ordered Zeolite. I will get that Monday. There has been a lot of "woop" about zeolite. It has an electric charge. And apparently, most of the minerals/vitamins have a positive charge. So that is why a lot of doctors are saying it is good for removing toxins. Trimethylamine has a positively charged cation. So with the zeolite being negative (and they say opposites attract) I am really, really hoping the zeolite will take care of my BO problem. We need to neutralize the TMA, and sulfides, amines, phosphorus compounds. That is how we are going to get rid of this odor. I've read that to remove and adsorb odorous compounds in a gaseous p0hase, adsorbents such as activated carbon, zeolite and silica gel are often used industrially. Like maybe for sewage treatments. It has been said that since zeolite is a negative charge, it captures and nullifies nitrosamines in the digestive tract. In one study done in the "marine" industry, to try to "deodorize" fish, zeolite exhibited a large TMA absorbtion.

This was a study published by PubMed (extremely reputable.)
I have tried EVERYTHING. And I am hoping this does the trick. I know this is a long post. But I hope I gave you some things to think about and to research. I know there has to be a better way to live. I know there has to be. And together, I think we can find it.
TY :)
