Candida that has changed into an opportunistic parasite and morphed into the fungal colonies definitely does not protect us from anything! It envelopes mercury and changes it to methyl mercury which is tolerable to it but 100x more toxic to us. So when the fungal cell dies it releases the methyl mercury into our system.
My theory is it uses the mercury as a defense mechanism for other competing bacteria and us. It teaches its host not to do anything that would harm it or we get a dose of sickening mercury when it dies.
Just my theory, no one really knows.
Candida in the fungal form is 100% a harmful parasite, and one of the few that will actually kill its host - killing itself.
Candida as yeast cells are a natural part of our intestinal flora so perhaps operates to protect us somehow, but are not the same as parasitic fungal colony biofilm.
