Clearing your inner sanctum can feel pretty rotten. Or maybe not? As a Nutritionist I have studied the process of detoxification for many years and seen how when toxins are dumped into the blood stream for elimination it often does not feel good. There are solutions to detoxification that can be effective and far less uncomfortable. The term “detox” describes the process of removing poisonous or addictive substances from the body. Most people think detoxification relates to expelling alcohol or drugs, however, it’s also about releasing substances that individuals are unable to process and eliminate without assistance. These substances behave in a toxic manner. They can upset kidney and liver function, increase plaque in arteries, disrupt digestive function, impede bowel function and increase susceptibility to virus, bacteria, parasite infestation and disease. Most toxicity starts with ingested substances so could include sugar, fat, wheat, dairy, nicotine, drugs and alcohol. Stress increases toxicity, as do environmental conditions such as EMR, factory emissions, water, and air pollution. In the USA, Medical Doctors are taught in their first semester of Med. School that as much as 90% of illness they will see in practice is stress related.[1] Everyone is different so each person’s toxicity and need to detox is measured on a case-by-case basis.
An “inverted detox” involves first establishing some fairly easy changes to nutrition and prescription of specific, pleasant supplementation to start the process of increasing energy, vitality and mind clarity over the top of the indicated toxicity. Mostly these supplements are made from food-based ingredients so your body recognizes them as nutrition. Once this has commenced, the detoxification process is started underneath the state of feeling a little better. The intended result that the body is less likely to go into lock down from the detoxification process and many people’s expectations of feeling terrible not realised. In a number of cases the initial building process eliminates the need for one or more aspects of the detox so the “release” process is faster. Feelings of energy, vitality and mind clarity increase even more as the process of detoxification progresses and the ageing process can start to slow down once the toxins are reduced.
