People with Celiac Disease often develop bile congestion from Gallstones and sludge. In reading messages at the Celiac.com Forums this congestion seems to clear up fairly rapidly in younger people. Our bodies normally are able to expel Gallstones but in Celiacs and people with some other intestinal problems are not able to do this so the stones build up in the gallbladder and bile ducts in the liver and reduce or sometimes block bile flow. When this happens usually the stools become lighter.
Maladsorbtion is when the villi of the small intestine are not adsorbing nutrients, vitamins and minerals. The autoimmune reaction of Celiac Disease flattens the villi and gluten can also affect adsotbtion by the villi in some people with non-celiac sprue or leaky gut syndrome. One sign of this is excess fat in stools which causes them to float in the toilet. Other problems may be vitamin deficiencies, weight loss, osteoporosis or ostopenia when calcium is not being adsorbed.
There are several programs at the Liver Flush Support Forum to cleanse stones, sludge and parasites from the bile system.
