Please pardon me if I am in the wrong forum. I read in another forum that this is a good one... ;-)
My family recently struggled with an MRSA infection that 3 of the 4 of us had (my daughter didn't get it). Very nasty stuff. My son and my wife were able to take sulfur-containing Antibiotics (can't remember the name, but it was really just several initials...a mixture). I have allergic reactions to sulfur drugs, so the doc put me on clindamycin. The MRSA (confirmed by a test on my wife) never came back on my son. It came back on my wife, who took the meds again, and the few spots that are left she is treating locally, trying to not take the meds again. She is doing pretty well. Needless to say, we spent a lot of time trying to sterilize our home to prevent further spreading. After me being off clindamycin for about 2 weeks, it came back. The doc prescribed it again. It came back again. It was always all around my groin area and some spots would grow huge and painful (elsewhere on the others...mostly hands and arms).
While on the second round of clindamycin, I did some research online to see if any natural-type remedies had worked on anyone. Tough to find testimonials of people killing off this bug by natural means. Mostly what I found were hopeful suggestions, although one or two folks said they killed it with Colloidal Silver , and someone said they killed it with ozone therapy (not sure how they generated that). I found some recommended dosages, and actually tried some commercial Colloidal Silver , but it started to give me a migraine, so I quit. I get migraines easily...I'll explain later. This was right after the second round of meds, to try to make sure it didn't come back (which simply means it was never completely killed). I found a recipe from someone on curezone for killing bacterial infections, so I started taking it, with no ill effects. The plan was: Chapparel and Pau D'Arco tinctures, 30 drops of each, 3 times daily, for 2 months (I've read that all herbs are best taken for 2 weeks, then take a week off).
After 2 weeks though, the MRSA returned. At this point, I did not know what else to do, so I went back to the doctor. He said it was time to pull out the "big gun", Zyvox. That is potent stuff...I was really tired while on it, but got through it ok until the end. I took it for 10 days, and the MRSA cleared up, as usual, but this time it has been 3 weeks now and it has not returned. I am finally getting around to my question....around the end of the 10 day meds, my lower back started hurting. I am assuming it is my kidneys, not sure. It still hurts, and here it is 3 weeks later. Not a sharp pain...I am able to go to work and get through the day...but an ache. This really concerns me. I plan to go back to the doc, just to have him do the usual tests to make sure everything still works ok. It seems to be.
At this point, I am not sure what to do.
I meant to give a little more background. I suffered with allergies for years. I otherwise look healthy...50 years old, 6' tall, 165 lbs. After over a decade of suffering, I finally figured out that it was a toxic buildup in my body that was the cause, so I changed my diet for the better a few years ago. I get some exercise, but I know I need to do better. My allergies have improved dramatically, but now I get migraine headaches easily. I'm not talking mild...it causes extreme nausea with vomiting, and for 3 days I am incapacitated, barely able to sip water occasionally. Some are not that bad, and I am able to go to work...I just feel lousy the whole day. My wife thinks I'm nuts, since I have never really been totally "cured", and hasn't been happy about the money spent at the healthfood store (I have done a parasite and bowel cleanse, and a Liver Flush in the past, as well as vitamins, probiotics, and the above-mentioned protocols).
Hopefully, I have not rambled on too much. I have never been able to unload like this to any of my MDs, who have never been sympathetic to "natural-type" treatments.
Any suggestions or advice is appreciated.
