I read your response and I wanted to offer you some encouragement, as a Survivor.
Most localities provide resources for victims of domestic violence and abuse. The truly priceless resource is victims' counseling, usually at no cost. The range of emotions that we experience along our healing paths can be confusing, crippling, and seemingly endless. Through appropriate counseling with a sharp therapist, we can begin setting those feelings in order and learning how to evolve into Survivors.
With regard to anger, it is 100% normal and healthy as long as we don't allow that anger to develop into an obsession: I.e., "getting even," or trying to get them fired, etc. We are allowed to be angry! And, a good therapist will help you to find the most productive route for your anger. They will also help you to sort out your past experiences in relation to personal choices, and help you to define and construct healthy, stong boundaries.
If you need help in finding local resources, visit http://www.ndvh.org.
it's a great way to take that first step onto your healing path. The hotline services are confidential and free of ridicule - it's a place to start.
Brightest blessings to you.
