My friend Jean who is an ND handed me Brownstein's book. I was really excited and really terrified. I brought this big bottle of Iodine from a local pharmacy and I never used it. I think I did an Iodine loading test with Vitamin Research Products and my excretion was 89%, so I didn't know what to do. I found one citation online about that number being suspicious but I couldn't get anymore so I didn't do anything.......

Then I found out Brownstein was coming to Boulder to talk and I went and Hakala was there giving out free loading tests. So I did their test and my result was 87% and my bromide was 16. At that point I started to understand NIS stuff, but the bromide didn't seem that high, because when you hear about bromide numbers like 150 or 200 that sounds really high.

Then I started taking Iodine at 50mg Iodoral because Brownstein made it sound like that is what he takes and most of his patients take. For two weeks I felt F'ing great, and then I started feeling like I was about to get sick. So I was up and down with dose, and my allergies were so bad I didn't take the companions because I couldn't figure out what helped and what didn't, and then in August I started getting really cold, and that scared the poop out of me........so I pretty much stopped taking Iodine.

I had found this forum but I was a bit shy and I asked a few questions and I didn't dig in enough to know I needed to stay the course.

That winter I got into Colloidal Silver and had some time where I felt great so I went into parasite cleansing mode, and eventually that fell apart too.....

then two autumns ago things started getting pretty bad and I was really scared. I couldn't let go of Iodine fully so I called Charles Hakala and asked him about my situation. He told me about the serum/saliva test they do and I thought, "yes, that would explain....." and I actually felt better taking the iodine that day, I was terrifed the 50mg was going to be a disaster

so I started taking it......

the results showed I didn't have a transport problem, but Charles went ahead and tested my bromide serum without asking or charging me. my bromide was higher than when I was tested previously. that got my attention and I finally committed to staying on Iodine. I even noticed I felt better on 100mg/day Iodoral.

Damn, that was a rough number of months......anxiety, brain fog, lots of weird muscle stuff,
then I started getting cramping so bad I had to change the salt flush to 1/4 tsp salt and 1/4 tsp potassium chloride (thank you Newport!)

then this fall kidney and liver flaring up.......

what a ride and I am still not out of the woods...

But I know for certain this is a very important piece for me

wow......ok I went off there, I guess I needed to get that out again
