That's terrible about your family issue. It's strange that this parasite can go on to reinfect in this way. At this point, it's assumed that the vector for D. Fragilis might be pinworm eggs, as there appears to be no cyst form. I doubt that is true in every case, and in fact, it has yet to be proven. I wonder how this happened in your case...
Luckily, I live alone. I will be thoroughly sterilizing my apartment in an effort that this reinfection doesn't happen to me, so thanks for the heads up. The triple therapy you took is for treatment of Blastocystis Hominis (as well as DF) but hopefully I don't have blastocystis. I believe the other two drugs kill the cyst form of blasto. I've read that furizolidone in particular can have some harsh side effects, so I surely hope I don't have to go that route.
It sucks that even a DIY approach in your case wouldn't be a solution, but more of a management nightmare. You must be one tough SOB to take care of that many kids, especially if you feel anything like I do. It's hard just managing my own life at this point!
