Blasto still retains certain morphological features which make it easy to find, but I agree there are sub-types we don't have a clue about.
What I do in my analysis, is study the features of what make problematic organisms.
These microbes will exhibit many indications they cause difficulty in the body. It is something that is not really being practiced much in clinical medicine.
Most parasites cause problems when they disrupt the chemical balance of the host,over-populate, agitate immune functions, invade cells or tissue, elicit classical\alternative immune response pathways.

All of this phenomenon create identifiable [observable]events which can be studied to tract how the parasite can be affecting certain physiological systems.
Several types of single-celled organisms I am following, are slime molds which have a close relationship with algae. These are somewhat similar to B. Hominis, and are far more evident in the human gut.
