Thanks, you're right about finding out the underlying cause, however, all of the doctors I have seen (and there have been a lot of them), seem to ignore finding the problem.Only one physician I visited ran tests to see if I had factor v leiden, protein c, protein s, blah, blah, blah. All of the tests came back negative. I don't have lupus, I don't have cancer. They did a cat scan. Round and round in circles. Have had a second opinion, a third and a fourth. They all say the same thing, want to keep running the same tests. They continue to want to put a band aid on a gunshot wound. Most doctors are only interested in prescribing medicine rather than finding out why I have to take it. The first clot I had was caused by trauma, (fractured ankle walked on it at work for a whole week before I realized it was fractured). Second clot I fell on my right hip, another hairline fracture. Obviously I have osteoporosis, I am 55 and menopausal.
Also a lot of these doctors are intimidated because I am a nurse, and I come into their office already knowing 'too much'!
They laughed at me and told me menopause and osteoporosis wasn't the case at all, "just take the warfarin you will be on it for life". I cannot believe the apathy of some of these doctors. It is as though they just don't care, and all they want to do is bilk my insurance, have me come back every other month and pay a co-pay, and write prescriptions. I feel like I am in the Twilight Zone.
Thanks for the info about the supplements. I am going to one more doctor this week. If I don't hear anything different, I am taking my chances with the natural supplements. I feel that anything God placed on the planet is better than what mankind has to offer!
Warmly,
