In order for the white blood cell to present antigen to the t-cells, it must digest the cyst, break it down into small peptides, then position it in the MHC 1 receptor. This would eventually lead to immune response with antibodies and increase macrophages and white blood cells. But, unfortunately, the cells are just gathering up normal garbage in their mind.
Activation may have happened in the past, because certain stages will elicit a response. I think these things alter their surface antigens, and therefore can survive long enough to venture into next cell, and create spores which develop into more cysts. Not all cysts survive after phagocytic digestion.
The parasite has developed a very elaborate system of survival. I have noticed many lymphocytes in area, so they know something is up, just can't see the parasites for lack of specific antigen lock. Some cells have been subject to apoptosis, meaning CD-8+ T cells have detected distressed macrophages.
There are many mast cells in all areas affected. This is where the clues come in. It is the common factor in both observed areas of infection. There is still a lot of work to figure out why the immune system is failing the task here. Shroom
