Capturing things must be an innate human desire. When I was around 7 my parents let me buy 2 of those little turtles they sell in pet stores. I decided I was going to make a turtle paradise for them. I used this old barbecue pit my parents didn't use and I filled it with dirt. I made a little pond in the middle and I planted little trees (weeds) all over the place. Well, when I woke up the next morning they were gone. I looked everywhere and I couldn't find them. Later in the summer I found one of the little dried out skeletons. Why did they leave my little paradise to die starving and baking in the sun? Maybe we do that to what God gives us.
Fast forward to a couple of years ago. We have a pool that has a cover on it in the winter. If we don't open the pool early enough tadpoles would end up by the thousands on it. Then I guess when they opened the pool they died. So, I had an aquarium in the garage and I decided to "save" a bunch of them. I scooped them up with a plastic cup and put a bunch in the aquarium. I put rocks in there so as they developed they could get out of the water. Well the first time I tried it I ended up killing most of them. It got kind of hot but I guess the aquarium intensified it so much that when I checked on them some were already dead I hurried up and put a bunch of cold water in there from the pool cover but some were still too far gone. The ones in the pool cover were fine and that year they developed quickly and were gone before we opened the pool. So, here I am at 51 and I still like to catch things. I have done it successfully another time and it was fun watching the legs pop out and see them turn to frogs. But, I don't know whats up with the desire to make certain creatures the subjects of our benevolent kingdoms. Anyway whether on purpose or not I doubt you caused the demise of any more insects, amphibians, turtles, etc. than I did. (and still do!!) I do NOT take baby birds out of their nests. Even if they do have bad mommies. I could tell more animal incidents but I'll spare you.
