A lot of doctors prescribe off label. Part of the problem though is that the drug companies often provide incentives for proscribing their drugs including trips, TVs, free golf, etc. And in some cases the doctors make extra money by investing in to the drugs that they prescribe. In the long run we get overmedicated and our lives are put at risk all because of the greed of the drug companies and some doctors.
