Hi Summer,
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you...busy couple of days!
Yes, use the probiotics...even if you're not doing enemas or the like they are a good thing to take regularly. You might do better by taking them on a fairly empty stomach...first thing in the morning or before you go to bed.
Gas results from a number of things...not chewing enough, stress, poor food combinations, insufficient digestive enzymes, allergies, or pathogenic organisms in your digestive system. Many probiotics contain dairy and if you are allergic or sensitive to it (lots of folks are) this could account for the gas. If you suspect that this might be a problem, look for a probiotic that specifically says dairy-free.
Although it is still possibe, it sounds like candida is not likely...it is usually accompanied by Sugar cravings. Since you did the parasite cleanse and got no change that's probably not the cause of your problem either. Adequate hydration and diet are major factors with constipation. Another frequent culprit is stress. The digestive system is extremely sensitive to stress...blood is diverted away from digestion and directed to the heart and large muscles of the arms and legs. When stress is chronic this can have a devestating effect on digestion...often shutting everything down. Taking steps to reduce stress, learning to manage it, and doing things to relax the abdomen...hot water bottle, hot baths, massage...are all helpful. You might benefit quite a bit from regular castor oil packs, too.
food allergies are always a possibility and many people have them without realizing it. You might want to do a Rotation Diet to see if you react to any foods. Often the foods we crave are the very ones we are allergic to...cruel joke, huh?...LOL! Dairy, wheat, corn, and soy are all very common ones...but you can be allergic to anything.
Low thyroid functioning can also cause constipation, and the tests are not always accurate. You might want to look into the basal body temp test to see if there's a possibility of this.
When did you start having problems with constipation? Have you noticed any patterns to it...times it is better or worse? Any connections with diet, stress, menstrual cycle, etc.?
Have you ever had a colonic? Is this an option you would consider?
Feel free to email me if you'd prefer to take the discussion off-line. Otherwise, start a new thread so I see your post sooner.
