On the other hand some experts believe certain parasites are beneficial to us. I even saw a doco which showed one researcher who deliberately infested himself he believed so much in their beneficial effect on his health.

Depends who you read, next week it will be someone different saying something else. Fasting is pure and simple, if it works stick to it. If you haven't tried it or given it a good enough go yet, that's all that's wanting, no need to look any further.
