As I pointed out, it is out of fear that you invent irrational fables as means to cope with uncertainty.

"Inspect every piece of pseudoscience and you will find a security blanket, a thumb to suck, a skirt to hold. What . . . does the scientist . . . have to offer in exchange? Uncertainty! Insecurity!"

The real courage in in facing this uncertainty and insecurity, not in embracing the supernatural and inventing fables to help you deal with it.

I also have plenty of fun and my world is filled with wonders. And my view of the world is true to boot.
