You might read chapter 12 of Kary Mullis's book "Dancing Naked In the Mind Field." He was bitten multiple times by brown recluse spiders and the bites did not heal until he took dicloxacillin (an antibiotic). Apparently something in the spider venom makes the bites particularly vulnerable to infection. Hope this helps. Tweet
