Re: What is the purpose of this forum?
The ability to ban gives the person who does the banning, the power of control over others. Same for a ship's captain or a parent over a child - the ability to punish is wherefrom any power they may have, is derived. It is the same as tyrannical politicians, but obviously on a much lesser scale. As when I was banned by "moreless" for suggesting the iodine in the kelp in that moreless protocol was the active agent. In many parts of Europe the politicians have banned many forms of speech, so, banning anonymous people from expressing opinions on the internet may in some instances be a cultural artefact, something they're learned. Many of the Muslim governments also practice this, and even those of the east. Canada to some extent. Also I think part of it is that truth can sometimes be painful. Stifling dissent is ages-old. People want "control", and when they lose control, their first reaction is anger. Venting their anger, they hit the ban" button. In my opinion, it is the mark of non-advanced souls - for the high position has nothing to fear from the opinions of others, rather, should look at dissenting opinions as an opportunity to educate either others, or themselves. On curezone, banning is of little effect, the person can come back as a different user and express their opinion either in the same forum or a different forum. I've been banned a few times, moreless, the truth in medicine guy, and some other "herbalist". Its no big deal.
